Russell really has shown he's the real deal, Hamilton haters will love it and say it's all the car again but that was a real solid weekend for Russell that showed he needs a top seat

Bottas will never do anything for Mercedes, he's not good enough. I bet they are looking if they can cancel that commitment to him :D
 
I said before FP1 that this weekend wouldn't be a yardstick for Russell vs Bottas, and I stick by that in terms of the long-term (Abu Dhabi will be a better indicator, if he gets that too), but its impossible not to feel awful for Russell, who had controlled the race and, even after Mercedes dropped back after the botched tyre change under the safety car, looked strong enough for a win.

If only they hadn't opted for a safety stop he'd have won at a canter.

Didn't say he would beat him, said he would challenge him, as Bottas has at times, and Russell is better than Bottas, so it'd be great to see.

So unlike Merc to make that mistake. They really need to give Bottas' seat to Russell next year and I'd give him Lewis' next week. The kid is certainly more than capable of winning races, today shows just that.

Great for Checo though. Finally getting that race win. If he goes to RB, could be some good action next year. :)
 
Absolutely gutted for Russell, but he's absolutely proved himself as a driver.

Botas and Albon just aren't good enough. Vettel is simply past it, Kimi too. That's 4 places to fill.
 
Not sure how I feel about Perez winning. Felt it was more luck than performance :confused:

Definitely luck, but F1 is littered with races where the fastest car hasn't won. At one point in the 60s it was rarer for the faster car to win than the not.

A lot of brilliance too though. He was last at one point remember. The last guy to do that was Button at Montreal as far as I know.
