Samsung 24" and 27" CFG70 144 Hz / 34" CF791 100Hz VA FreeSync

Just need to paint the desk white and in done! lol

I drop red wine over my K95 Keyboard, letting it dry out so ignore the crap thing! BTW the big black desk mat is a OCUK one :D

The monitors cable management is great but you wont fit 5 cables in there is you wants all ports taken up.

The curve looks rather extreme. I barely notice mine on the X34, but this smacks you in the face!

The curve felt extreme at first, but quick get used to it.

I know this is not the 24 inch model but I have to say I have blown away with the quality of the monitor, from build to picture, even the speakers are impressive for monitor speakers.

I have not run into any issues, no dead pixels, no random standby's, all perfect so far. There is a little bit of black light bleed with the lights off but not enough to write home about and with the lights on there is zero bleed. Mine is a November build BTW.

Unfortunately, I am unable to test Freesync as I currently have Nvidia pushing this monitor.

I can feel and see the difference from 1GTG to 4GTG in gaming and after an hour of use my eyes seem to have adjusted to the slight delay, however, nothing that would hinder my gaming.

For productivity, as I work on this PC I must be clear that it is fantastic if you work with multiple windows or even PC's because of the screen real estate. I used PIP with a MacBook Pro on the bottom corner of the screen and Windows covering the rest using symless's synergy to use one mouse and keyboard for multiple computers, works perfectly.

Setting aside the issues people have had with Freesync, this is an amazing monitor and would recommend it to anyone and if this monitor does not impress someone then they are asking for a hella lot.

Out of many high-end monitors I have purchased over the years, this is the only one so far I have genuinely been overly impressed by and keeping in mind that I have not adjusted any settings apart from setting response time to 'fastest'.

Gibbo was correct to say how impressive this monitor really is.

...Response time on the ones we have here is absolutely brilliant including the big 34" monster which in short is the best monitor I have ever witnessed.

Edit: I was going to place the monitor on my desk mount arm but the stand on this beast is excellent so I have removed the desk mount completely.

Must resist.... Must resist..... Need to mentally persuade myself that the R9 Nano works nicely with the 2730Z and sold my beloved GTX1080 because of Freesync.........

<looking online to find a second hand furyX or Nano tonight>

The real estate is unreal, I have taken a few photos with my iPhone with lights on and off. What amazes me is in the photos you can make out pixels but in person, you can't see a pixel, nice and smooth. I am not sure if it is the Quantum Dot Tech that is making the colours look amazing but whatever it is I love it.

There were some very cool monitors shown at CES a few days ago

I didn't see anything that is going to offer much over what Samsung has (QC problems aside). I'm still waiting for a 34"+ 21:9 panel that hits more than 100hz (Freesync or Gsync), and HDR would be a welcome bonus on top of that. Even if 21:9 doesn't happen, a 40" 16:9 would at least offer the same width, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Well, as you already pointed out, HDR and much higher refresh rates @ 4k are something that is interesting 'cool' to look forward to. I would be interested to see what sales figures for ultra wide sales are in recent quarters; if it is a growing area or not. It seems like a very useful aspect ratio and monitor size for productivity and some games, but slow adoption in some areas seems concerning.

It's cost prohibitive for many, that's the problem. There are only going to be a finite number of people who can afford £1K for a monitor., especially in light of tech prices being high across the board. High spec PC ownership is an expensive hobby.

I agree with this comment. Prices for tech have gone up and I don't expect it to drop either, unfortunately. There is a vast range of different spec'd monitors in the market from res to refresh etc, it seems monitors like the CF791 don't have a place in the market at lower prices as it gone kill off sales of their other products.

I can't afford it, as in I'm not rich and splashing out £1k is certainly not a trivial matter. However, I am turning 30 next month and I'm sorely tempted. I spend a lot of time at my PC and it has all the specs and features I want so I would see it as a worthwhile upgrade, especially seeing as it'd last me a long time.

I though Quantum Dot was meant to pretty much resolve backlight bleed?

hmmm

Nox

TBH, it looks 10 times worse in the photo. Its not that bad.

I working and game on this computer and an ultrawide is perfect for what I need however it is not for everyone.

I use the PC nearly everyday therefore I don't mind spending a bit of money, I get my monies worth for sure.

C34F791 Ultimate Freesync Engine Fix:

Install the drivers from: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/global

Restart, no more flickering with ultimate engine

Quote from over at OCnet - I can't test as I don't have an AMD card. Looks promising.

Hopefully, this shows it's a software/driver issue and not a panel problem. I would have expected a nearly £1k panel to not have this issues as Samsung would have been silly releasing a monitor with the issues to the panel. If this does work then people can relax when deciding if to purchase or not.

Be nice if thats the case, although I don't see myself on AMD anytime soon unless Vega is amazing but knowing the option is there is good.

Canceling my ocuk for now, cheaper and in stock elsewhere.

Please note on the Samsung website you have to select the C34F791WQK to find the driver.....

Anyhow.

Has anyone tried the driver with with AMD card and the Ultimate Engine?
Gibbo maybe?

@OCUK you have people waiting to order here ;)
