Samsung 24" and 27" CFG70 144 Hz / 34" CF791 100Hz VA FreeSync

Dell u2715h.

Done much gaming on it?, still a little wary regarding pixel response, feelings are mixed on it reading about.

I have done gaming on it, if you come from a 1GTG then you will notice the difference, however, I have got used to it now. Playing on an ultrawide has massively improved my gaming experience.

Still no issues in relation to stuck pixel etc. Working fine and dandy (Cant try freesync).

Ok I am going to change something from my earlier statement regarding 1GTG to 4GTG. I just installed the Samsung drivers onto the PC and it has improved the response time of the monitor. I can now hardly tell the difference from my ROG Swift 1440p when gaming.

If you get this monitor, make sure you install the Sammy driver inclusive of the normal GFX card drivers.

Does anyone have any experience with buying monitors directly from Samsung? Such as what their shipping and returns policies are. Samsung themselves seem to have the best price on these monitors at the moment.

should i be concerned by the complete lack of reviews of this monitor too? considering it's been released and some end users have actually go their hands on them now...

You mean the C34F791? I've been hounding multiple people from Samsung and their PR companies and they seem to have some real issues providing review samples for that one in the UK. The long and short of it is, without review samples there will be very few 'professional' (hate that term) reviews.

yep, that's the one i'm talking about...

i really want to know how much better it is than the alternatives around that price. theoretically a fair bit, higher free sync range and quantum dot. but input lag is something i don't want a nasty surprise on either. i never used to worry about all this stuff 10 years ago when buying a monitor, just resolution/size - life was easier!

I noticed the input lag until I installed the Samsung drivers no I don't feel it. That is my opinion, maybe different for you.

Well, the 34inch one is finally in stock.

I cancelled the pre order but apart from freesync (I have amd card) problem this is the best monitor I could find. What to do what to do.

Those drivers sound like they were a miracle worker in a previous

Nope, they are just the correct driver behind the wheel.

Besides Freesync, as Gibbo said earlier in the thread, it is a fantastic monitor.

Just to let you know you're not crazy :D, I installed the driver off the disc and yes I notice a big improvement on the mouse fluidity, it was a very noticable improvement to the input reponse.

Just setup the screen, so off to test for few hours.

Thank god for that! I was questioning myself! They need to make that a lot clearer!

Make sure you go into the OSD and set response time to fastest.

Been too busy faffing about and only tried Planetside for a bit with family, will take me a day or two to make sure everythings ok. Quick impressions would be obviously the huge contrast improvement, Planetside looked stunning during night with all the explosions going on, 100hz refresh naturally feels x10 better than 60hz still. Viewing angles isn't as good as IPS but as someone who cannot use TN screens due to shift I have no problem with this screen when sitting down using it. Didn't notice any bluring on Planetside during day and night that would worry me but still need to test more games for that but hopefully no bad smearing that put me off VA before.

Colour accuracy out the box is very good, whites and color vibrancy seem just as good as a calibrated ips screen without touching anything so good job for Samsung for doing that properly. Last few ips screens I did had awful tinges and needed adjustment.

Only problem I've had so far is when I turned the screen on there was huge buzzing and whine sound, used my own displayport and thought it was that but same thing with the Samsung cable. Quickly rushed into the sound menu and lowered volume to zero and disabled the monitor in sound options. Re-enabled it and its working when testing the sound, no idea what went on there hopefully nothing serious, I have no intention of using the sound though as I have my own sound setup so its disabled.

I'll come back for my verdict but will need a day or two for me so can test games and screen properly but I'm impressed with it so far.

Quick edit: That sig of yours Panos smears against the blue pretty badly, hopefully I don't see anything like that in games. I'll install Skyrim and test the location I had problems with before.

Just thought I'd post pictures of backlight incase anyone interested for that. Also checked for pixel faults, cant see any having a good look on pixel checker, will check again in a day or two. The links may take a sec to load.

And the only good camera work shot I could get in game :p

Planetside 2:

I honestly don't notice much blurring in Planetside 2, however Skyrim has many deep black contrasted areas and there is a noticeable blurr on the black. It's not as bad as my previous VA try though, and to be honest I'm going to have to compromise somewhere. Been after a monitor too long, so hopefully I can get used to it.

Alright, bit gutted :(. The screen is fantastic in how it looks, the contrast is something I desire so much in a monitor but after trying a good couple of games I just can't get past the VA smearing and blur. I'm not sure why I dont notice it in Planetside 2, maybe as it doesnt have pure deep blacks and has some light to the shades. Soon as a black is up for example: the trees on the tundra in Skyrim there will be a 1cm smearing on the tree trunks when slowly panning the screen with similar blur and shimmering on anything esle black. In dim rooms with black objects they will smear pretty badly. Walking through a town in Elderscrolls online during night as soon as you pan the blurring is pretty jarring to look at. Black against the Ocuk forum background will have a pretty large trail as well, gaming on VA just isn't for me.

Damn shame as theres nothing wrong the screen and the image is best I've seen on a monitor, just gutted the usual VA problem is there.
