Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

Tempted to pick one of these up to play with. How's everyone finding it now that it's a bit older, and what's ICS like on it?

Any Jelly Bean ROMs around?

It's still plenty quick enough, mine doesn't struggle with anything, although obviously a One X or S3 will be quicker.

The only JB ROM I know of is CM10 but it's a very early beta, not ready for daily use.

The only ICS ROM I've used is CM9/Paranoid which are extremely stable and what I'm using now.

I'd wait for the Note 2, being announced end of this month.

I'd be buying 2nd hand, around £250. I've got a One X that I'm not getting on with and would probably use the Note until a good SGS3 deal came along.

If it's anything like Paranoid you need to long press power and select 'expand desktop'.

PS I loved the RocketROM Gingerbread ROMs. They were exceptionally smooth/fast with all the useful extras

First up be very very careful with doing anything ROM related with the note. There is a not insignificant chance of bricking it. So long as you do plenty of reading on XDA and follow instructions to the letter - you should be fine but do be very careful.

Adjusting the DPI is very cool, perhaps even essential for me but it's a bit trickier on ICS than it was on GB. I can't help with guidance how to do it on stock ICS as it's baked into the ROM I'm using. XDA is your friend...

Cheers. Am I being blind, or is there no Note forum on XDA bar the AT&T one?

Any guides for rooting I should follow?

Battery life seems very much improved since last update.

Just upgraded to 4.0.4 this morning, pulled the phone off the power at lunchtime and so far it's dropped 1% battery in three hours, with Wifi and 3G enabled. Although I haven't been using the phone, that's much better than before.

I've been using my iPhone for the last month as the battery life was so disappointing. Will let the girlfriend use the Note for a week or so before going back to it though! :)

OK, 24 hours into Galaxy Note ownership, and I have two questions:

First - I can't pull the notification drawer down while on the lock screen. I can on the One X, and could using both the stock Sense ROM and a clean Android one. For some reason with Touch Wiz though, I can't. Is that normal?

Second - I'm trying to use the Sky Go app, and it's complaining about running on a rooted device. I've installed SuperUser and SU to see if the phone is rooted, and it says not. Bug perhaps?

Any ideas?

I think it is normal, as I can't do it on my Note either.

The phone can feel surprisingly laggy, too. Flicking through web pages in Chrome, for example.

It almost feels like the Android of old. The Android that kept me away from the platform until the One X. Surely it should be smoother than this?

It's running the 4.0.4 update.
