Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

I've just done the move from Rocket Rom v10 4.0.4 to alliance, to do so i've run a full Titanium backup of all apps and system data.
- installed the alliance rom manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ficeto.alliancemanager
-Download the latest rom from sourceforge
-download the custom settings apk from here
-copy both the rom and customsettings to the internal SD card (external sd fails later down the line)
-Start up ROM manager and select Flash / install File, select the CustomSettings.apk and install to system.
-Once thats installed I restarted (to take my sim out..) but you may not need to, close Rom customizer and reopen, select the new ROM settings item and ROM Config Settings.
-Turn everything on (if you want) but make sure you have Wipe User Data enabled.

-go back to the main screen, select flash install, select the alliance rom zip and confirm.
-cross all available body parts and wait...
-breath again when it starts up :D

-start restoring from Titanium (need to read up on the best way to do this actually...

WooHoo - new update with a few new features.

The userland generated changelog so far includes the following:

new launcher (as on the Galaxy SIII)
new gallery with fancy 3D effects
new contact list
pop-up video can now be resized
S-Cloud integration (no dedicated App but you will be prompted to sync your settings with Samsung)
you can now save contacts in the S-Cloud too (like Google contacts)
performance improved
new gesture action added: call contact currently displayed if you raise the phone
bloatware added (NTV, Lieferheld, ChatOn, myTaxi)
unfortunately, the black clipping issues has not been fixed

If its new (under a month) the battery life won't be at its best. Aside from turning off things like GPS if your not using it the other battery saving tips are a bit more complicated (i.e. checking for wakelocks, disabling wifi sharing and a few other services that randomly kick in doing crap and drain the battery).

I don't find playing games on it too bad - the odd time I've put an hour into playing GTA3 or max payne on it with only about 30% battery used.

I'm upgrading the SD card in my Note and want to ensure all the content of the current one is copied over to the new one. Whats the best way to do this?

Also, for some reason the stock Camera App is storing the camera images in two different places, as does the other Camera Apps. I'd like them all in one place so I don't have multiple Gallery libraries. Any idea's how to get this done?

How hard / safe is this to do? I’ve been looking at the Note 2, but might save some cash and go for the note, especially if it’s getting updated, I assume these updates aren’t official? Sorry if this is a daft question but I’ve only just started looking at custom ROM’s etc (still reading about them).

Am I daft getting a original note when the note 2 is out?

The above update is official but it's not here in the UK yet. I'm pretty sure the Galaxy Note is going to get Official 4.1 JB too - edit JB has been confirmed!

Nope - performance is still great on the Note and will be even better with JB. Wouldn't pay more than £300 for a new one.

My Note has started to have problems with the Audio. I used Beyondpod for Podcasts and although they are downloaded to the phone there is stuttering while play back with 1-2 seconds of silence every 10-15 seconds. The problem also happens while streaming Podcasts or YouTube videos. Any ideas?

Stock Note running 4.0.4.
