Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

mine came today, its very big ! ahah im going to look like dom jolly when i make a call. tried the usual on it, it plays 720p ans 1080p on it fine :) the touch wiz skins leave a lot to be desired, im trying to look for ways to skin the menus and the sms app, coming from a htc desire hd, i always liked the effort they put into the menus and dialer etc, phone is awesome, just.. big

using go launcher atm with the stock theme but the background bar transparent, looks sleek.

I'm borrowing one of these at the moment and its bloomin marvellous! Speed wise it leaves my Nexus 1 in the dust on so many levels. Surprisingly, for me, the phones netwirk speed is so much faster than the N1. A side by side Speedtest, both on T-Mobile, its Download and upload speeds are easily over twice as fast.
It loads and plays Video, Youtube,BBC etc almost instantly where the N1would take a few seconds to start playing and even then it would often stop and and buffer.

Very nice device indeed and the time you spend with it in hand the better it gets.

Got mine last night. Found myself laughing at the size of it when i opened the box, but the more i use it the more i love this phone. I was using a zte blade before, which couldn't handle high bitrate video files and would slow down with multiple webpages open, whereas the note is lovely and quick. Internet is brilliant on this phone and the size of the screen makes typing quick and easy. The camera is very good as well.

I do think it's about a centimetre too wide for me to comfortably type one handed and I have large hands, and if the galaxy nexus had the same cpu and gpu, a microSd card slotcar

had mine since yesterday, i charged it before i went to work, came off charge at 1pm, i was using it quite a bit, it was also in my locker at full brightness, done texting and bbrowsing some gaming. got home at 00.00 and phone had 52% charge left.

From first charge and using solidly playing a high def film, crayon physics for 30 mins, internet on wi fi for a few hours, running a torrent client for 2 hours, music and general playing about it was down to the 15% battery warning after 7 hours. That's with screen at full brightness, with wifi and gps on, and using the phone speakers. Seems pretty good to me, though I'll still get a second battery at some point

Mine was taken off charge for around 12 hours now, and with less usage today it is sitting on 38%. Wifi, 3G, GPS, vibrate are on all the time and the screen is set to around 70% brightness. The phone no longer feels big to me.

pulled mine off charge today before work at 1pm, finished work at 23.30 and battery showed 71% charge, used it around 2 hours during the shift for really strenuous usage, screen is always full brightness, might get an extra battery just for piece of mind, miles better than my prev desire hd.

And so the general consensus is that for browsing it's an absolute demon? Most sites you dont have to zoom in to read? Also, can someone please test something for me: use Dolphin HD and set the text size to large... does it still maintain good scaling while being more readable?

Battery isnt actually the biggest issue ever for me to be honest as I bought a Tecknet 11000mAh external battery pack from Amazon UK for 30 squid which should charge the thing a couple of times fully without breaking too much of a sweat. I reccommend anyone with a modern phone get one, they really are invaluable, look good, and are surprisingly sleek pocketable too http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Yoo...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1322479870&sr=1-4. In fact, maybe worth of a separate thread later on when I get chance. :)

EDIT - Note is now £415 where I live... so, so tempted...

I don't have to zoom in to read any site.

The only page I've ever had to zoom in to read was one thread on this forum where someone posted a massive image that introduced horizontal scroll and the browser shrank everything down to fit the image on the screen. That is literally the only time.

Increasing text size in Dolphin works fine, except it makes the text look too big for my tastes when I can already read comfortably on normal size.

It is. Almost everyone I have shown this to so far has been amazed at the screen and more amazed at how it is not as big as they had imagined. Two of my mates who have an S2 now want to sell it to get this, my cousin also wants to get it after seeing it. My mates brother whos upgrade is next week will now definitely be getting this after seeing it, he thought it wasn't that big and he currently has an iP4. I think all the reviews make it out to be enormous and people are pleasantly surprised at how easily it fits in your pockets and how portable it actually is.

While I agree it isn't that enormous, it is pretty huge and it's far too big for most people.

I'd argue that the browsing/general experience on the Nexus is going to be just about equal (despite its shortcomings) and it is a considerably friendlier size, but also too big for a lot of people.

It is a huge phone, but also a very nice sized all in one multimedia device if you can call it that. I agree it's too big for those who are solely after a phone (that can also do other things) but the Note is a good overall compromise for everything I feel. I think a lot of people have been put off by the size, but they wouldn't be if they used it for a day. Like I said, a few people want it now after they saw mine who previously were not even considering it because it was 'way too big'.

Seriously, I've had this a week now and it doesn't feel big anymore. I was walking through Asda earlier and it rang, I answered the call and talked for a minute and only realised when I hung up that I'd been holding a brick to my head! I didn't notice any funny looks either. :p
