Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

That's the thing with the Note, there is no doubt it has a large, brilliant screen, but unfortunately you're paying a fairly hefty price to get it, the entire thing has to be a generally unfriendly size.

By all accounts, the Nexus seems to be roughly level with the Galaxy S II in terms of portability, one-handed use, etc. No matter how you spin it, the Note can't offer that (unless you're a giant :p).

It's very unlikely that we'll get another phone like the Note when there are flexible screens around the corner.

Well it's certainly a niche device that wont appeal to everyone but there's nothing about the size that I'd describe as unfriendly for me personally. I was a bit apprehensive as my hands are only average size, but I can still use the phone well enough for one handed typing.

Though to be honest I don't think I ever used my 3.5" iPhone one handed much anyway, so I'm sure a lot depends on usage habits. For me the 5.3" screen is easily worth any of the trade offs, in fact I'm almost tempted to say I could go a little bigger (but that would really be pushing it) :p

It's definitely not a phone for everyone though. But for those that do find the idea of this phone appealing, I think it will prove to be a special device that may not be bettered for a long time.

sorry to but in here, thought id write my views on the battery. Pulled off charge at 2pm this afternoon, its had moderate use and is now sitting at 82%. so if you ask me that is pretty sick!

I think Samsung could continue the Note series without too much trouble, there is clearly a market for it, though it isn't all that big. All they need to do is base it on the latest Galaxy S 'X' model and bump up the size a bit.

That sounds very impressive. You'll have to define 'moderate' use for me though, how long has the screen been on for and at what brightness?

i used it an hour after i took it off charge, then, in my 8 hour shift the screen has been on about 1 and a half hours at max brighness playing fpse and browsing. while in that time its been in my locker and its been turned on, i think if theres no signal then constantly searching for a signal is supposed to drain battery too, ive got that battery saving thing on thats in the settings, dont know if thats helping, amoled really is great, when i had screen on fullbrightness on my desire hd youd see the battery go down by the minute.

How not to make a 5" display device:

Wayyy too much bezel. Samsung did a great job.

Where's the cheapest place to get one of these on contract? I have £2-300 that I can put towards a phone, as well as £30 per month on the contract for the phone itself. I'm not very well clued up on phones. I've been told that with many contracts, you can pay a certain amount at the start of the contract to reduce the monthly fee?

Cheaper the contract more you have to pay upfront for a the phone and vice versa, simple as.

That's not what I was asking, I was asking where to look for the best deals. I should have mentioned what I required from the from in terms of minutes, texts and internet data allowance, but the link that grudas has provided is proving to be quite helpful. :)

I went for o2 cheapest contract, £13.50, but after ditching the 3 quid p/m data works out as 10.50 per month for 24 months plus £230 for the phone upfront(well,280 then 50 flashback through quidco). Then 10 quid a month for giffgaff Goodbag (250 min, unlimited texts and data). So all in 722 quid over 24 months, equivalent to £30/month.

Was clueing you up on the bold part of your question.

i went for the 36£ month one, i was going to just get the cheaest deal and stick my current orange sim in but the signal is so poor, ive really missed where you can get signal with on o2. so i went with £36 month and i get 1gb net. reading this thread, its my understanding that im paying £10 for the internet, so i if i cancelled, would it effectively be £26 month ?

Correct, o2 charge £10 for 1GB, £6 for 500mb and £3 for 100mb.

its interesting to note(scuse the pun) that, when using opera mobile, it recognises it as a tab, you can select it to render pages as a tab or desktop.
