Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

The native app in video mode. 4k60 with both OIS and EIS enabled for stability. I sometimes use Pro video mode and other times use the new BlackMagic camera app for ultimate control if I ever need that, but 95% of the time it's normal video mode. All recordings are edited in YouCut Pro where I can export to 4k60 and apply some light colour grading to give the cinematic look with a subtle black contrast lift.

Any reason to go 4K60 over 4K30? A personal preference thing? I always found having the higher frames gives it that soap opera feel which I dislike.

Also where is the link to your settings? I remember seeing you post them in the past :p

fps is smoother, higher bitrate, just looks better all round, though 30fps lets in more light so may be better for low light situations. You can also slow down 0fps footage for cool action showsshots without juddering as it would slow down to 30fps instead of 15fps.

Anyone else finding their S24U heating up a lot during video calls? I'm sure it wasn't this hot before, I can definitely feel it on my hand now.

Searching online seems it was a common issue a few months ago..
This has always been the case with most phones, as there's a lot of things going on during video calls etc.

I had the issue of battery getting drained super fast after my first charge. Was worse than my note 10 plus. But has improved a lot since it charged the second time.

My plan is to keep this phone until it runs out if support. So what's that? Almost 7 years? Might go to maximum battery protection and use 80% of the battery in a week or so.

Android phones learn your usage pattern over the course of a week or so before the battery settles to an optimum usage state so that's normal.

The whole 80% thing is unnecessary unless you fully intend on keeping it for 7 years, but come year 3-4 it will be ancient anyway and the battery at that point will still be kicking great.

Regular backups via FreeFileSync is excellent, not far off 200MB/sec on this phone vs the 140 odd from the S23 Ultra is nice to see.

I do intend to keep it that long yeah. My Note 10+ 5G is like at least 5 years old now and if not for lack of Android and security updates still plenty good. Phones just are not improving at the pace they used to. Back in the day I would upgrade every year or two.

I mean I might upgrade before if I see a deal again like I did with this one. But if not happy to keep it. One of the other reasons to upgrade was also the better cameras. Night time low light shots are like day and night better.

Great shout with FreeFileSync. Will use it :)

Bit of a cheeky question- but can anyone kindly share a samsung 15% birthday code if they have one spare? I would like to buy a phone after I lost mine, and would much appreciate it. Thank you!

Any of you guys give from an S21Ultra to the s24ultra can comment (objectively) on camera performance?

Specs don't look much different.
But keen to know if 5x is usable (as 10x really wasn't) and particularly any improvement in 1x/wide.

I have the S24 Ultra, what are the best accessories for this, i.e car / push bike mounts, cases, etc ?

Also which YouTube video is worth watching on setting up the S24 Ultra please ?

I use quad lock on mine for my mountain bike. Never come off (and that's with me coming off)

S21 ultra

I use a soft microfibre cloth. I also have a screen spray which I occasionally use to clean the phone with too which I spray once or twice on the cloth first. It's very good at removing fingers prints/smears.

Anyone tried using their Steam Deck charger on their S24 Ultra?

Steam deck charger is rated 45W as far as I can see.

Been using my 25W Note 10+ charger which is plenty fast as it is.

Hi guys,

Not sure if it's something I've done but since today, when I get a call on Bluetooth, I get the callers name read out to me - useful to many I'm sure but not for me. Any way to stop it?

Was thinking it might have been from an app update maybe?

Go on your Dialler hit the 3 buttons at the top right, then Answering & Ending Calls, turn off read caller names aloud off if it's on.

I've been using a Dell laptop charger which is rated at 45w, works absolutely fine no issues

All USB-C chargers will work. It's the charging rate that will be different. If its not a PPS based charger you'll get slower PD speeds of around 18W.

For 45W you need a specific PPS 4A+ charger
