Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Tablet

The IR port surely can't be that important to you? :p

I have a ton ofgadgets all with remotes, and if I could have unified them withoutbuying a Harmony (am close to buying one anyway) or something then that would have been awesome. :p

The only thing which makes me hesitant now though is the prospect of a 7" Tegra 3 or upgraded Exynos tablet being released in the next couple of months. The current gen 1.4ghz Exynos is quick, but the aforementioned updates outperform it by a not inconsiderable margin. However, i guess you are buying this tablet for the unique srcreen really.

Is there any info on when the 3G version is coming to UK and how much is it gonna be? The Hong Kong ebay seller imobilephonex has the 3G version for approx 420 quid...Do you think it is a good deal? Would it be trouble-free using with vodaphone UK sim card? Thanks for answer!

PK, after doing a lot of reading on XDA forums I am now pretty put off of this tablet. The reason being it seems to suffer from a lot of QC issues with the screen, with people reporting a lot of instances of screen defects and also some power issues. :(

Mhmm... i'm tempted to hang back a while and see what comes out over the next couple of months, eg: ASUS with their 7" Tegra3 pad etc etc.

The guy replaced his GS2 7 times and his note 3 times for screen defects. I wouldn't take his word for anything.

Another XDA screen defect thread with lots of complaints? All phones/tablets have them. Read those general threads and you'd never buy anything ever again. :D

They are specific issues and complaints experienced by multiple persons, and I am a fussy power user who has been buying tech for the the last 18 years. This is the kind of thing I notice. :p

Man, was really forward to getting this tablet untill I saw the XDA thread about screen defects. For me it's a bit of deal breaker since I was planning on using it in dark conditions for movie viewing (which is supposed to look great on OLED displays).

First impressions are that the device is the perfect size... not too big not too small, and just the right amount bigger than my Playbook. Screen is awesome, and I can see soem mild discoloration of the SAMOLED+ but really it's barely noticeable. COlours and blacks are frigging awesome.

Build quality-wise, the device feels premium... and thin and light too. Buttons have just the right amount of click. :)

Screens are both bright but in different ways... AMOLED is less harsh than LCD. Don't get me wrong, the Playbook has a superb screen, uniform and very clear, but the 7.7 is definitely on another level. I may yet swap it as faulty for the mild yellow discolouration, but that really is only on a grey background, and I dont see much of that. :)

any pic's and can i ask how much you paid?

No pics I'm afraid as I currently have no camera, but I paid £390 for the 16gb 3g version under current exchange rates in my local tech store. More feedback to follow this evening... but really this device is the shizz. :)
