The official Samsung one looks quite good but I cannot see whether it folds flat at the back. For around £40 it would need to be exactly what I wanted.

I guess I am looking for one of the folding covers, something that provides protection if I chuck it in a bag but can fold out of the way easily for use. Being able to stand it up would be fairly useful but not essential.

Apparently ICS use half the RAM compared to HC - Thank God.

The major difference between the Honeycomb and the Ice Cream Sandwich version of the Android OS is the performance boost. Everything moves and feels fluid on the ICS, there are no glitches or performance bottlenecks as it was on the Honeycomb. Here is the Tab 2 10.1 in action.

Yeah I saw one yday for about that price and it was from HK, ******* was the retailer, anyone know anything about *******, the reviewers on site were v complimentary about price and delivery, as they would be.

So I'm thinking about letting my son have one of these in 3g £379, he's 10 and putting £250 of his own money into it, what I want to know is can he use the sim out of his Galaxy Ace on 3 payg with unltd data in the 7.7 because his pocket money can't fund both devices at £15 a mnth each so to him using the same sim even with a micro sim adapter if necessary is a deal breaker and his other choice is getting a Note, so advice is welcome, thanks.

Thanks a lot, he's put in the research and done the leg work and it would be a shame if commercial chicanery and manipulation killed his dream, LOL!

There is a good thread on AV Forums about the 7.7 and a lot of peeps on there got it from ******* - all very satisfied from what I read! (not sure if I can post a link to another forum??)

Personally I paid the £50 extra and went for the UK version from the rainforest!

Only had a brief go today but so far I'm really liking it!!

If your finding the stock launcher a bit laggy - use Go Launcher HD for tablets

Just having a play about with it now and having a bit of trouble streaming video from my NAS??

Using ES File Explorer to find the files on my home network but they are barely playing at all?? :confused:

Tried the built in video player and MX Video Player (which is what I use on my SGS2 and it works fine?!?!)

Anyone got any suggestions??

*update*

For some strange reason, my SGS2 is also struggling to play any videos now!?!?! Cant think of anything that has changed except I've updated to ICS today - would this have had an effect?

Thanks I'm there now on pg 3, interesting read, I read stacks of threads on avforums before I bought my plasma tv, they turned me into a plasma buyer, loads of very knowledgeable guys there, and here.

I'll read on at avf before I decide whether it's worth paying £50 for UK spec and reliable forest peace of mind.

What will you be using it for? The new iPad is unquestionably superior overall.

Both are massively better than the Playbook.

I'd tell you to try both but the 7.7 doesn't seem to be anywhere and I'd say it's quite unlikely that you'd prefer it.

Size/OS/Apps etc should define which one you want.

I had the first ipad, sold it as I got bored of it!! I'll pop into the apple store and try the ipad and see how it is now.

I'm not really into apps. Maybe download a few thats it really

Can you put custom roms on the 7.7 ?

Ok we've ordered a 7.7 3g from the afore mentioned *******, based on the avf research, thanks for the heads up, I'll keep the thread up to date on the progress of the order and the outcome, I got a Ultra microSDHC UHS 16gb, a screen cover and a warrenty all for £420, by far and away the biggest purchase so far in my sons life.
