Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Tablet

I have a question regarding the tab 7.7 that members seem to have ordered from china,

have to send it to Samsung china or will Samsung UK cover the warranty?

I am finding it hard to justify the price of £400 for non 3g and £450 for 16gb 3G all for 7.7, at this price i am considering ipad 3.

forgot to ask, how is everyone finding the screen brightness on the 7.7, on some videos it look quite dull even at max brightness?

On AVForum a guy used his warranty successfully, there is a London postal address, I have had complete satisfaction as far as the screen and brightness are concerned.

I saw the Galaxy Tab 8.9 in HMV yesterday for £280. What are people's thoughts on that versus the 7.7? The 7.7 looks slightly better specced (but smaller screen), but is £100 more.

Depends how much you care about SAMOLED+

For me I cared enough to sell my 7.0 Plus and pay extra for this, using an S2 for the past year means I need my blacks to be black.

It's a great tablet, and also funnily enough makes one of the worlds best SatNavs. :D

The only thing that annoys me is that it is now getting a little long in the tooth hardware-wise, what with the new Exynos quad core and Tegra 3 both out. It can handle almost anything still, but I think in the not too distant future it will start to show its age with the GPU.

My Note on ICS nearly matched Tegra 3 in all GPU benchmarks ;) I think it'll be fine for a while.

Seeing as this can make phone calls is there anyway I can recieve texts and calls from the sim that is in my SGS2 but without taking out the sim from my phone and putting it into the Tablet? If that makes sense...

I dont really want to get a new sim and have two different phone numbers.

I dunno, only top end devices will have the new raw power, and developers still need to cater for a variety of devices or they miss out on profits. By the time my 7.7 starts lagging (given it doesn't even have ICS yet, let alone a custom ICS ROM), I will probably be looking to upgrade anyhoo. :)

I was ready to buy this tablet but the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives.

No ICS date confirmed, ageing hardware, lack of love from the modding community, expensive, Google nexus tablets on the horizon.

I dont know what to do :(

I'm in exactly the same boat as you - annoying aint it!!

I went to see the 7.7 yesterday at the Carphone Warehouse and walked away knowing that it isn't for me.

The display is too small, it's size is way too close to my Notes size. I loaded up some PDFs on it and while the text was legible, it was too small in full page view. It's very well built and thin, but again the form factor is just too close to the size of my Note. It would be a silly purchase.

I agree about the lack of development within the modding community, it's near non existent. Samsung are also being very coy about ICS, which is concerning. I think the reason for both of these issues is because the 7.7 isn't a very popular device due to it's price point which is relatively high.

I'm just very glad that I went to see the 7.7 as I was about to blindly hit the order button.

I'm on the look out now for a 10" 1280x800 tablet which has ICS straight out of the box.

I dont think there is any other tablets that come close to the display quality of the 7.7 except for the iPad 3 and I dont want that!

I love this tablet!

I use it for 2.5 hours every week day, 1 hour 15 min of comic reading in the morning, 1 hour 15 min of tv in the evening.

Currently on 35% are 2 days 16 hours, with 7 hours full brightness screen on time (which accounts for 76% of total usage).

Sweeeeeet!

To be honest if I had waited 2 months I would be thinking the same thing... the hardware is getting a little old hat and Honeycomb is simply awful imo, laggy and unstable even using GO Launcher. However the size and screen are for me what make it worthwhile, and to be honest I really do not game enough to need the extra horsepower at the moment. Plus, the Exynos can output 1080p video at smooth speeds... thats still a sign of good power.

I used the device as an ebook reader and it lasted close enough to 12 hours, so im beyond happy.
