Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Tablet

Mass producing the biggest consumer Super amoled display might be causing them a few problems. Just wish they'd hurry up as im itching to get my hands on it. On a different topic the original tab has a working port of ICS, its still alpha at the moment.

Simplyelectronics.net claim to have the 16GB WiFi version in stock at £429 and the 16GB 3G version at £529.

I'm waiting for the 32GB or, preferably, the 64GB.

This interests me, can I ask:

1 - At the price, its similar to the Ipad 2 (which we have) now although I dont really want another one of them as it dont play Flash stuff.... is this going to be as fast/responsive as an Ipad2?

2 - Im assuming Xmas release is out of the question atm?

3 - Id only really want the entry level tablet as its more for late night browsing for 30mins or so... sometimes some day stuff, so what spec would that be and price point? Im assuming 16gb.. 300 quid?

A basic 16gb wifi only ipad2 costs £400. I would expect the equivalent Tab7.7 to cost more

If you're mostly just doing a bit of browsing, buy a cheaper tablet for <£200.

For me, the major point of interest in the Tab7.7 is it's screen size and resolution for pdfs. The expected price is a turn off though. At the moment the Archos 80G9 (starts at £200) is top of my list, provided they sort out the display issue.

Hate when companies do this !!! :@@

Announce a product and never announce a release date !

Only one company does this right and its Apple ! Announce a product and a release date !

Maybe the ipad3 will come out before Samsung release the 7.7 :p

just for your info i emailed simplyelectronics and questioned how theyd got any stock when samsung havent announced anything yet. they responded saying they were a global internet based seller and they have uk stock which was "designed for the uk market with 3 pin plugs etc", cant remember the exact wording. but the reply did make out they have stock in the uk.... presume they must be imported from HK but will work here? not sure.

Well either way I cant see how they have UK stock when nothing has been launched over here... hell, there aren't even any official reviews out yet since the Hong Kong Launch. I can pre-order the 3G version for 450 quid where I live, but it says they are due in Mid-January. I certainly wouldnt pay 100 quid extra just to get the simply electronics version. Something about it just doesnt smell right.

EDIT - Uh-oh, read this... http://www.examiner.com/gadgets-in-los-angeles/samsung-galaxy-tab-8-3-said-to-be-released-2012

An even bigger SAMOLED screen? I want this so much.

It's only 0.5" bigger. Hardly seems worth the effort, unless the journalist knows more than he's saying ...
but this tablet will blow the Galaxy Tab 7.7 out of the water
... and the screen is significantly different such as higher resolution or 3d without glasses.

Screen resolution says no. :p

Either way I think the 7.7 will be out in January, and definitely worth waiting a month for the reviews... no point rushing to buy something just for the sake of it, even thogh the iPad 2 is of course a quality device.

Hang on a little longer, you've waited this long anyhow. :)

The 16Gb (GT-P6800LSAXEU) and 32Gb (GT-P6800LSEXEU) 3G models have started appearing on the web sites at around £530 for the former and £660 for the latter.

No firm delivery dates yet but I wouldn't be surprised if we see them this week.

Loads of money; I just wish I could stop drooling.

Pre-order prices for the 16GB are around £450 in Switzerland with the current exchange rate, but im guessing this will drop on release.
