Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Tablet

WHAT! £600! Are you joking, an iPad is £399, if that price it correct then Samsung has lost its ways, people only buy Samsung Tablets because they offer more features for less, this only offers an AMOLED screen

It is superior in pretty much every way, faster CPU, better screen, smaller in size and arguably a better OS.

Also, "only offers an AMOLED" - seriously? The screen will be way better than the iPad 2 screen. It has higher resolution, is more pixel dense, better viewing angles, better response times, richer colours and perfect blacks. The only possible advantage the iPad 2 screen has is that it is physically larger, which can easily be seen as a disadvantage to some people.

Most people still won't consider it that much better than an iPad 2 though, if at all. It's a silly argument to have as it will be a lot newer anyway.

I've gone off AMOLED a bit for several reasons, even though I do still very much like it. I don't think it will be £600 though, pre-order prices are always expensive.

The Toshiba AT200 is already on a pre order price of about £400 in germay, it has a 10.1 inch screen and it is LED backlit, it has a better resolution that the iPad and that is enough to keep me happy, but I can't make a decision yet, I will have to see.

every LCD screen is LED backlit - means nothing quality wise.
Quality comes from the panel itself.

Yes but think about it, will it be worth paying £200 more AMOLED and a smaller screen? I am interested in the 7.7 and have nothing against it, im just looking at alternatives.

Not only that, when Samsung, HTC, etc do announce a release date you find some high street retailers suddenly announce an exclusive deal where they get the handsets a couple of days earlier. And some others follow and release theirs even earlier to get a jump.

So when it does come to offiical launch day everyone is out of stock :(

And up to the official release week the the web is just full of rumours of when it might be. You have to closely follow all the forums so as soon as someone get's one you can get down there ASAP and get one of the 5 or less handsets the store has. Which makes another joke of the release date, big stores only get a small amount which are gone by lunchtime and then you have to wait another 2-3 weeks for the next batch.

I remember everyone raging while waiting for the Galaxy S II release date.

It was announced in January (wasn't it?) and wasn't launched until the end of April and that was a P4U exclusive launch so everyone had to get it via them. :o

Yep, my last few handsets have all been released on P4U exclusives which meant lots of driving around to every store in my area and pleading until one let it go SIM free, which seems to be a dirty word at P4U.

I want this tab soooooooo much... not only is it the perfect size for lugging around on the train etc, but the Super AMOLED screen makes it the perfect e-reader hybrid... VERY easy on the eyes, virtually no strain whatsoever, just like the SGS II.

In addition, its very powerful with the 1.4ghz Exynos, and there really is no need to wait for a quad-core with a tablet of these dimensions as it wouldnt gain you anything... the power will be perfect for the size, and I imagine battery life will also be good.

Browsing of web pages looked brilliant on the Phonearena Youtube preview i saw... with the fll web page being rendered on the screen and still being very readable.

All in all this looks like the most versatile tablets to date, and I will certainly be in the market for one when its released and prices come down. The screen itself makes this a gobsmacking device. Do want. :)
