Samsung KS7000 55inch just been delivered...

55" KS7000 @ JL for £689.

Slightly miffed I paid £760 for a 49" 10 weeks ago!

i paid almost double that pretty much when it first came out i think (1299). Don't get me wrong, i love it, and bought the newest because i was refurbishing my entire flat so got a bit carried away. I wish I'd have held out as the prices dropped really fast. Next time - it's clearly better to get a slightly older set as the prices are soooo much lower.

I've just ordered a a UE49KS7000 for £780, would you say that's a good price? Seeing one first hand in store the picture looked fantastic and far better than any of the other sub £1k TV's on display.

The alternative is a model like the UE49KU6400 which looks great for £550 but just lacks some of the extra features (fewer HDMI ports, no external connections box, lesser HDR implementation), do you think the KS7000 is still worth the extra? I'm pretty sure I want to stick with Samsung as I use USB playback very often and they support most formats.

I'm pleased with it for the price I paid (£789) - but read my comment above! You could get the 55 inch version for less!!

Thats a cracking price but its not on their website at all, as I just checked?

It was in store at Birmingham New Street - I nearly fell over.

I didn't read the small print - perhaps it was the last one in stock? (Although they don't normally do that).

I was having a break from the Nursery tour. Ironic that a new buggy cost more than the TV anyway.

Damn I paid 840 for my 55"! Shame as I could have got from Birmingham too.. Maybe ex display/EOL. doubt they'll be there for long anyways!

Well I received the UE49KS7000 but the ******* thing died after an hour! It turned itself off out of the blue and has since been stuck in a boot/power cycle loop whenever I try to turn it on. I'm disappointed as for the time it was working the quality was fantastic! Really hope I can get a replacement with a panel of similar quality (no backlight bleed, barely any clouding).

I've had mine for a little while now - very pleased for the price.

My only gripe is the automotion plus settings aren't great and you are better turning the processing off altogether for fast sport.

I upgraded to 4k netflix and I'm glad i did - so so clear - even Ghostbusters 2 looks immense!

Well it took a while but I've managed to get my hands on 55ks7500 :) for £800 :)
Didn't plan we to go 55 and wanted 49 but then this price....:)
If you have any tested and recommended settings it would be great.

Now need to find 4k content to watch :)

Samsung K550 or K650 if you want network audio. Both are 3.1 and sound pretty good for the money. You could look into a Yamaha YSP-2500 which will sound considerably better....

Any thoughts on the Bose soundbar?

It's ok I had a listen in store and it sounded ok but needed the sub. If your looking to spend that sort of money I would highly recommend the Yamaha YSP-2700. It sounds better comes with a sub and does surround without the need to buy extra speakers.

I listened to a few and even went the Sonos route but the Yamaha is the only one I found that offers everything you would find in a separate amp setup in a sound bar. It supports 7.1 HD audio and the way it does surround just amazes me every time I use it...

Tbh you would be best going and having a listen and a play in store to get a feel for each.

Well sadly I couldn't get a replacement for the screwed KS7000 that wasn't ex-display so I paid a little extra for a KS8000 from another dealer. Damn, I cannot get over how good the colours are! I can barely watch any content ATM without getting distracted by the IQ, I'm thrilled! When trying HDR content (mainly Grand Tour via Amazon) the brightness/contrast really make a huge difference (coming from a UE46D8000).

Only issue I have so far is 4K HDR from my PC, any recommended settings from Nvidia users? I know RGB 4:4:4 simply isn't possible due to the limitations of HDMI 2.0. I can use 4:2:2 at 60hz with Limited dynamic range and the TV detects HDR input (UHD colour turned on for HDMI 2 in PC mode) but colours seem washed out without the extra brightness seen elsewhere and watching true 4K HDR vids on YouTube seems to confirm it's not working correctly. Any suggestions or tips on how I can see whether it's working correctly?

Also I can't seem to enable game mode while using HDMI 2 from my PC. It's not an issue for SP games and for most MP games I'll use my XB271HU monitor but the extra response time would be nice for casual controller games like For Honor.

The frame on my Samsung UA55KS8000 (KS7000 in the UK) is coming away at the top/back. 180mm from the left and 150mm from the right, also down the sides. I've had mine for only 5 months . Just to be aware...

Well my issue is resolved, I had it in PC mode (which acts somewhat like game mode but the response time isn't quite as good). Once I switched input type to Games Console Game Mode was available. Also managed to get HDR games working on PC (the desktop looks horrible but as soon as you load HDR content - in this case Resident Evil 7 - it looks fantastic!).

I'd say if you get a good example it's well worth buying, I've been blown away by the colours and HDR (Grand Tour on Amazon Prime for example) is superb. If going Samsung I'd say it's the best choice short of their highest end models as this years replacement series (MU7000, MU8000) are inferior in a number of ways. For example the MU7000 only has a 60hz refresh rate and I'm pretty sure isn't 10-bit while costing more than the KS8000!

My only gripe now (argh!) is 1 dead pixel which is very central on the screen. I only noticed it when close up on a bright background and can't see it from normal viewing distance except in very specific circumstances. What is Samsung's policy on this? Not sure whether I can go through the rigmarole of seeking a replacement again but when spending this amount of money I don't want compromises. Am I being too anal? In every other way this panel is great, no banding that I can see, almost no noticeable backlight bleed.
