That's strange. What is that? Baffles me how it can leave the factory like that, unless it's something that has happened in transit, a knock or something that has cause internal damage of some sort maybe?

How much backlight bleed is acceptable? I have a very thin streak in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. How can I show a screenshot of this?

The fear I have of returning my Samsung because of that little blemish on the right hand side (it's like there's too much pressure on that exact part of the bezel like when u press ur finger against the screen) is that I'll get one back with other, worse problems. And honestly in day to day use I don't even notice it. This one is definitely a keeper.

I was hanging on for the Dell. Indeed, I'd been waiting patiently since the LG 34UM95 came out. There were rumblings all through 2014 of Dell bringing out a 34" 3440x1440 monitor (and the model name was even leaked well in advance iirc). I've had my 2405FPW for 10 years and it's still going strong (it's now in full-time portrait mode beside the Samsung) but I just didn't like the look of the issues with the Dell.

The monitor itself looks great, I can't emphasise how much I love the idea of an integrated KVM switch, and it's much better looking than the Samsung (the stand in particular). I do like Dell's styling on their monitors, it's no-nonsense and not flashy.

In the end I decided that the Samsung was the safer bet (at least of this generation and I wanted something now) and I've not been disappointed so far.

I find the styling of Dell monitors very boring and I think they look cheap.

Dell = generic office styling from a decade ago.

The Samsung looks miles better to me.

What exact backgrounds are you seeing this on? If you have a link of a test image online we could compare, then post it here.

How much is acceptable to you is a question only you can answer. If you're wondering how much is acceptable to the manufacturer - a heck of a lot more than you will have. ;) But you're within your consumer rights to return if you notify the retailer within 14 days of receiving the monitor, regardless.

Well I don't actually know how to optimally look for backlight bleed. I just googled it and found that if you change source in the monitor menu the screen goes black and you can find if there's any backlight bleed.

Played some battlefield 4 which is pretty dark when you're inside buildings and it is visible. If I take a screenshot of this would the backlight bleed show up in in the image? I would have thought not.

A photo would be good Mayh3m - it'll be overexposed of course, but it'll give a good impression and plenty of us will have seen enough of these photos with the LG based panels.

If you've got to recreate it by doing what you describe, then it's not exactly a real world issue. EDit: oops, myopically missed what you said about BF4.

I've seen once what you're on about with mine - an extremely thin and brittle line of 'glow' along the base. I tried to to remember where I saw that once, but have failed to reproduce it. Tell us what you see on this test - go full screen.

You are using DP aren't you?

Remember, you copied my settings. Try lowering the brightness and see how you get on.

There is a slight amount of glow from the edges. I know people say this monitor has no background bleed, but there is a tiny small amount - it's nothing you should be concerned about.

That photo was taken with a brightness of 35. But in all honesty I don't care too much about it. I just wanted to gauge what other people think. During the day when I use higher brightness its definitely visible in darker areas of games, but since its in the corner I have to really go looking for it.

Even if I were to return it there's no guarantee the next one would be free of this completely, it might even be worse.

i notice a glow at the bottom of the screen if im sat too close looking down on it, i found raising the monitor height and tilting back slightly sorts it out
