Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

Tempted to replace my Dell 29" with one of these. Does this screen have an audio out? Would like to connect to my ps4 via Hdmi and use a 3.5mm jack out to an amplifier.

Appreciate all the information this thread has generated. I've been waiting for a 21:9 VA panel for ages and this one ticks nearly every box. Only sticking point is the price but it sounds like a keeper.

i dont think i could bring myself to spend £185 to calibrate a monitor

Its not just A monitor though... its every monitor you ever own from now on...your friends and familys monitors if they want it and every TV you own.

For me its worth it as I spent £800 on a monitor and £3000 on a TV so £185 to calibrate them to perfect colour and gamma is worth it but I can understand why some wouldn't.

If I was just going to calibrate a £200 monitor and nothing else I certainly wouldn't get one but £800 is a huge amount to spend so for me personally I wanted perfect colours.

I1 Display owner here, it's worth every penny. I've calibrated multiple monitors and every TV I've owned in the past 3 years. Makes a huge difference to me but I'm fussy when it comes to picture quality.

To each there own but I wouldn't view it as a one time use item, it will be used for many years to come.

Well I still have the 'issue' of a portion of the screen on the left having a slight reddish tint on white backgrounds.

Tested both HDMI and DP same thing happens. I do have to stress though that its EXTREMELY subtle, only happens on white backgrounds, and you have to really look to notice it. I can only conclude that its because of how temperamental the VA panel is in terms of viewing angels and colour shift. Problem is even when I'm facing it head on from the centre, the whiteness of the backgrounds of two identical windows on either side of the screen will look very slightly different, the left having the slight red tint.

Do you guys notice similar behaviour on this monitor? Try opening two word documents and place them on either side and see if the colour of the white is exactly the same.

Do the newer ones come software unlocked or something? The one I have is hard locked to X-rite allowed software only.

Not sure in all honesty. I have mostly stuck to using the Xrite i1 Profiler. It's pretty easy to use has never left me wanting to use any alternative.

I have tried some freeware previously but that was so long ago I cannot remember what it was called. However, I quickly went back to using the supplied software.

Hi guys. I've been back and forth on this for months, I really would like a 21:9 34" monitor and have been waiting to see the releases due for this year, expecting the 1440 lines to have freesync. However still doesn't look like anything is imminent and possibly will be way out of budget when it comes about.

I'm not a hardcore gamer but do spend a few hours a week on mostly single player stuff, but input lag would really annoy me which is why I've moved away from some of the other options. I would also have a very low tolerance for bleed and glow when spending such money. Do you guys think the Samsung is as good as it's going to get this year?

Also was hoping to spend ~£600 originally. Have seen these much cheaper overseas on amazon but very reluctant to make a purchase for an item with such high returns which sends to be shipped back abroad with th eresponsibilty on the consumer. Has anyone had any experience with monitor purchases overseas?

Thanks for your help, in particular to the content already in this thread which has proved very useful.

PCM2 How do these results look to you? I can always get the colour temp to around 6500 but on the colour graph the red line always seems to come out more and veer away from the green and blue and I could never get it perfect. Just did a new calibration with a few changes and managed to get these results... I think that's pretty much spot on when it comes to RBG colour and most likely the best im going to get.

the monitor is not perfect by any means but im happy with it, ive not had any backlight bleed or input lag issues, I play quite a bit of counter strike go and it quite an enjoyable experience all round.

I did have some doubts earlier on as some of my games looked quite bad but ive put that down to corrupt drivers as ive now done a fresh install of windows and my games now look awesome, ive not even done any calibration just lowered the brightness set gamma to 3 and away I went

You should give gamma mode 2 a try...Its all down to what you prefere with your eyes of course but with mode 3 I found that blacks tended to crush more and I lost a lot of detail. Mode 2 seemed to be the sweet spot for me.

Currently using these settings.

Bright 21
Contrast 79
red 52
green 44
blue 43
Gamma mode 2

Using a custom ICC profile aswell of course and these settings will probably look quite different on yours.
It might look dim at first with the brightness at 21 but give it 5 mins and the colours look stunning on mine.
