Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

Thanks for the reply Tephos, i have just sold my previous monitor which was a Samsung S27B750VS 27"

Now looking for a replacement, im a bit out of touch with the various panels i have to admit. Im a bit of a Samsung Fan i have to admit but obviously want something that ticks all the boxes, Photo Editing and Gaming mostly.

If you photo edit and make a living off of it, you will absolutely want IPS. VA is better for contrast, so is better suited to entertainment. IPS will have the most accurate colours out of all panel types.

Thankfully IPS panels these days are just fine for regular gaming, so long as you're not looking for a 'pro-gaming' anything.

So in terms of curved displays, the LG or the Dell will suit you better, I think. I'd personally go with the Dell because warranty is miles better.

Thanks again for the feedback! whilst i do sell my work its not my primary source of income.... i do have a spyder pro 3 that i can use to calibrate the samsungs colours.... even though i have the calibrator would you still say the other dell and LG would be better?

The issue with VA panels, including the Samsung, is the inconsistency of colours. There is a shift at various points of the screen due to weaknesses in viewing angle. From a normal viewing position, colours lose saturation towards the bottom and edges of the screen. You can therefore only get a true representation of a shade, following calibration, in the centre of the screen. This is explored in some detail in my review.

Ah what to do... want this monitor badly and i know it will be awesome for games etc... photography wise then thats a shame, just trying to find a decent IPS monitor thats up to the job

Totally agree, I did a direct comparison with my current screens and the colour shift was very apparent to me. The image didn’t sit well for me and best way I can describe it would be the image didn’t look solid as per an IPS.

Panel type is PLS, whic his Samsung's version of IPS.

However, it's 4k. Unless you have a monster rig you can forget gaming on that with any decent settings.

I still recommend the DELL/LG curved models and giving them a go. They'd do what you want, both photos and gaming.

I'm trying to stick around 3.5gb as going over that does stutter at times.dont know if that's the while Gtx 970 vram debacle or just running out of horsepower. Either way, game still looks and plays great even with AA off. Wouldve needed AA @ 2560X1080 IMO.
