Is there a lot of bloat ware on there from Samsung? I heard there is McAfee and stuff. Can you just remove that from the Control Panel because i heard someone had to go into msconfig or something like that to remove stuff...

It does come with some stuff, and it could be removed if you wanted to but I have left it on. It has a "samsung doctor" self diagnosis thing, and a magic keyboard, but without it the Fn key short cuts dont work (Such as Fn + F9) to turn wifi on-off, screen brightness and volume.

Its not really in the Lenovo league of "bloatware"

Ah ok I see..

So without those function keys, is there no other way to switch the wifi or bluetooth off?

Also, i just dont like the McAfee stuff as it is a trial and will pi$$ me off when it comes to renew with popup messages. Norton is the biggest culprit with their annoying messages.

Was thinking of putting AVG on there.
 
McAfee is easy to uninstall. I'd just remove it straight away if you don't like it and install Avira AntiVir which would be much lighter, quicker and has better detection rates.

I'm getting so tempted to buy this that I might just treat myself and order one next week.

Why are your F7 and F8 buttons blue?
 
Yup mine are too, haven't bothered to find out why yet though! :o


F8 is "Speed mode" not sure what it does though.
 
Should be getting mine tomorrow. Original place I pre-ordered from still hasn't got stock so I went with OCUK who sent it this morning.

Hopefully it'll help me finish my book. I'm just getting sick of sitting at a desk when I want to write.
 
mine are blue too, got mine yesterday and spent most of night playing and only notice today in real light !!!

took off mcafee straight away and a few of the samsung programs, other wise running nice and smooth except when watching a video last night i wanted t up the volume and the video glitched abit but cant remember what setting so might just have been low power.

really tempted now to upgrade ram and hdd then try vista but only copy i got is 64bit

Think it doesn't like overlaying the volume display on anything complicated, I noticed that too.

I'm dead impressed with this though, and I've been anti-laptop for years. So much good stuff packed in a tiny container and for £300 it's peanuts really :) Even has no trouble with 1280x720 video!

Source some nice cases for them OcUK!
 
I simply love mine :)

So what is the general consensus on the performance increase of having 2gig of ram? It worth it for the cheap upgrade price?
