Samsung NC10

Cheers mate, so basically you could use your phone's bluetooth to connect to the net that way? So when I'm travelling I can get online that way?

Thats what I do, but Im with "3" and they have some good data rates, be careful as some charge an arm and a leg...and Im not sure it they allow access for laptops. (Officially "3" dont, you are suposed to get the £10 for 1 gig per month add-on, but I have used a contract sim with X-series, and pay as you go with the £5 month o£2.50 per week or 50p per day add on.)

Got mine today-what a piece of kit!

Typing this on it now, is quality - keyboard will take a little getting used to but is well thought out.

In response to what apps I have un-installed:

Just Mcaffee for now, stripped the boot down in msconfig etc.

Running nicely!

Oh, and how good is the panel!! Soo bright!

That's the 7200 scorpio ?
is it quiet ? it looks to be about 50% faster than My 160 Tosh drive
If We can get a few more at least people will know the best drive regarding performance/noise for the NC10

Cheers

As good as silent

Thanks.

I wish they did a glossy white colour, would much perfer it to the pearly white.

Could people who have the NC10 post some pics in this thread please? I can't find many pics anywhere and it would be interesting to see what the different colours are like.

My black one came yesterday evening :D

Now I can spend all day at Uni configuring it rather than working :)

I'll post some pics up of people want them this evening, but there are a few ones of the black NC10 in this thread already, so let me know whether to take them.

It's a great machine though, I'm very impressed. I'm not really having problems with the touchpad like others are, but the fact it is flush with the surface is a tad annoying.

I'm going to have a go installing linux on it sometime soon - does anyone know about the driver support for this?

To answer a question further up, there is no 3G model available right now but it is likely to follow soon. I have heard that a version has been confirmed for next year but I havent seen it from an official source yet.

You can see my pictures on my flickr page:

I've set up a couple of groups actually which I will be streaming to my NC10 blog from the weekend! I thought Id do one of NC10 webcam shots - just for fun like - I admit there is no real practical use for that beyond a quick glimpse at the quality but hey ho ;)! And another of NC10 photos so far its just my pics but if you have any to share and have a flickr account then that would be awesome!

I plan to post some extreme netbooking pictures (think extreme ironing lol!)

Had a quick play with my new black NC10 last night.

First thing I did was get rid of McAfee. Installed Antivir and got rid of the nag screen (I think I made a mess off it because I removed everyones rights to that thing, including admin rights). Was only about 20MB worth of Windows Updates, so that was good. Installed Tight VNC, Synergy and CoreAVC.

720p x264 files worked fine over the 54mb wireless network.

Most surprising was using Synergy over the network. I was able to play Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 with no problems linking to my media laptop and playing on the TV.

I'll get pictures up if I have to, but it pretty much looks like everyone else's here.

Mine just arrived, its substantially better looking than i thought from photo's people have posted(black). The laptop is admittedly a little over shiny, but looks very smart none the less. Tiny bit heavier than i imagined, but definitely not heavy. Now i just have to wait for it to charge :(

A few pics...just for those that are waiting for theirs...

Have you lost any fingerprints or dust? You will find them here on the fingerprint magnet.

I ordered mine this morning.. should be arriving in about 5 days time.

What is the performance like with Vista then? did you upgrade your RAM to accommodate this?
