Samsung NC10

You might be able to get away with just setting it as primary and activating the partition it. I had issue doing this and then just formatted the HD.

It's a lot easier if you've got access to a 4Gb usb stick. Might be worth getting a cheapo one for this type of thing?

Hi,

i have ordered a 8Gb USB stick,

So the process which you have told us is to use a USB stick and turn it into a Windows Vista/Windows 7 Bootable disc?

also some important questions..

Is it worth getting 2Gb's RAM for Windows 7? If so, could someone please link to me the Cheapest 2Gb available?

And can you still use all the button hotlinks by pressing the FN+number keys? because arnt they already installed with XP?

And for getting Drivers, are they all ok?

Go to the samsung website and download easy display manager, this allows all the hotkeys to work again. Works in both vista and w7.

With 2gb I found it made no difference with xp but with vista and windows 7, general multitasking was much smoother. (ff with ~4-8 tabs, outlook 2k7, skype & msn)

Drivers, you can pick up the latest off the intel website, or use windows update to get a whql set.

Where can i get some cheap 2Gb ram?

The resolution is crap - you can get a 1280x768 resolution on a netbook now.

No, it's not "crap".

It's a netbook, it's perfectly fine.

You can get 1280x800 on the NC20 but it's a bigger "netbook" borderline notebook!

I decided against the NC20 and kept the NC10 because of this and a few other reasons.

The resolution is perfectly adequate unless perhaps you plan on projecting something onto the side of building, in which case might I suggest something more appropriate.

I'm suitably impressed with my nc10 and I'm really glad I went for it. Battery life and the large screen swung it for me. It's a quality bit of kit.

I'll decide what I consider to be crap thanks.

If HP can put an amazing screen on a tiny netbook that weighs less than a bag of sugar, than other manufacturers have no excuse have they?

A girl at work has just bought one, it is amazing and it's less than £200. The only issue for me is performance. She's installed Ubuntu on hers and it seems fast. The issue is that I have no concept of the performance difference between the VIA CPU and the Intel Atom used in others. Have you seen any benchmarks? If so, point them out please.

Finally got mine delivered today on my mobile phone deal. Its a black one and I bought 2GB RAM and a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook mouse 5000 which is a great little mouse.

This netbook will make a great travel companion. Just gotta see whether I can use the work VPN on it before I decide whether to keep XP home or upgrade to PRO.

I'd like to try W7 on it but I didn;t download the 32bit version only the 64bit version. Anybody know whether the 64bit version of the key works on the 32bit download??

Why don't you just marry the HP then?

It's less than £200 because it doesn't offer anything else that is as amazing other than the screen.

Why should I try to sell it?

You go use one and decide for yourself instead of armchair-debating about its apparent "crap" screen!

I have a 24" H-IPS screen on my primary PC yet still am very comfortable with the NC10 screen every day when out and about.... I think that says it all.

The VIA C7-M (Not to be confused with the VIA Nano) in the HP Mini 2133 does not make for an enjoyable experience on Windows, it's about 35% slower than the Atom. I tried it out in store before I bought my NC10, the thing also looks really cheap and ugly to me.
