Samsung NC10

A few quick questions to all those running Windows 7 on the NC10 if I may....

Firstly, are you guys just putting up with losing the 'natural' functionality of the Samsung software? The Battery Manager and Easy Display Manager just never really seemed to work all that well, and more annoyingly, seemed to just stop functioning completely after hibernating.

Second, battery life. I always seemed to see a fairly significant drop in estimated battery life. Is this just the different 'guestimations' of XP and Windows 7, or does 7 seem to draw more power?

I REALLY want to be running Windows 7, but when XP works perfectly well and all software works perfectly natively, I just can't ignore the little bodges required to get Windows 7 working 'properly' on the NC10.

Battery manager I found no use for so uninstalled it, Displaymanager works perfectly fine though no issues.

Power wise I've not had any issues really.

Ok, annoying problem.

Everytime I reboot, the brightness seems to default to a very low level. Anyone else? Anything I can do? mrk? Anyone?

I'm all alone.... :(

anyone got cs 1.6 working well or day of defeat, dod runs at like 9.6fps outside on a dday level, 29 everwhere else tho, any hardware tweaks i should be doing?, tried gma booster btw, how do i increase the graphics memory though? can get it to o/c without crashing either

It depends what BIOS you are running as to whether or not you can access the 'hidden' Intel menu. That said, for gaming anyway, it doesn't 'really' make a massive difference. 3DMark06 only gains a couple of FPS at most.

I got rid of battery manager

Press windows key + x for a handy Mobility center in windows 7 :)

Can anyone confirm if the boot screen reverts to the vista style scroll bar on the NC10?
I have win 7 x64 elsewhere and i get the new boot logo on that....might be a resolution thing

cheers

It is indeed a resolution issue, there was discussion about it on the Microsoft W7 developer blog, you need a minimum vertical resolution of 768 for the new boot logo to appear with just the vista horizontal scrolling bar if less than that.
