Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 (G95NC) 57" Uber-Wide

Got mine today, working great in testing with my Mac Mini M2. Just need to sort out the Ultrarm on the desk to get it mounted, always hated the stick out stands.

welcome to the club, most people don't know what they are missing out on. After you play widescreen is hard to go back to normal 16:9 :D

Well I am upgrading from the OG 49 G9 so been in the game just not the 57 game :D Moar res ftw!

What settings are you running at?

nothing really special, I have just left it as default and just turned brightness down to 5 and left it in Picture Mode: Eco. It was just too bright for me, specially as I write code in a dim light room it causes me eye strain. I would advice just checking for deal pixels and screen uniformity issues also make sure you test it thoroughly in the 30 days you have it. Some of them can have issue with coming out of sleep, where the monitor has power but wont show anything on screen and you have to power cycle the monitor. The only pain for me is getting some older games to work, they usually require some workaround but apart from this its a GREAT MONITOR even though its still LCD.

I use this to test the screen

oh and there is nothing wrong with Moar:D

Cheers mate, good test and no missing pixels or anything :)

Mine from the box was too dim, it was set on 3 brightness and everything else on max. The colour profile on the mac is pretty pants on the default G95NC, the colours are washed out so set that on ColorMatch RGB which gives them some life. Apart from that compared to my old G9 the resolution is pretty much perfect. I have to set some websites to 125% as text is too small, but apart from that loving it.

Is it possible to run a 4k firestick through the HDMI input on one half of the monitor and then use the other half to play games at 4k/240hz (via display port) at the same time or are there some limitations on refresh rate/resolution when using two inputs side by side ?

dont quote me but I believe when you split the screen like this one side is locked to 120hz and the other half is 60hz. But you can do what you suggest only issue is this difference in refresh rates.

Hi all,

What size desk are people using? Looking to get the Cooler Master 57" monitor and I have a W-155cm x D-75cm desk.

Anyone using the VESA mount, what mount are you using?

Pictures welcome!

Thanks!

I've got a 180x80cm that fits it comfortably with a 27" vertical screen I also need. I can it can be fine though on a 150cm wide desk

Anyone with one getting a 5090?

Considering getting one again, after all the good news about MFG :D this is the monitor that gives me the best chance of upscaling content to crazy resolutions and with MFG factored in, could be fun.

Glad I'm not the only crazy person here :D

I have a code I have to use by 25th if I want the G95NC.

Hard decision to make with a £750 Philips 240Hz 4K OLED available.
If its the philips 49m2c8900 or cheaper variation I returned mine was not that impressed to be honest,

Supporting my Neo G9 was a key reason why I was thinking of updating to the 5090 as of course the 4090 doesn't have DP2.1

The 5090 price and small-ish performance bump have put me off and it seems like it won't be until the 6090 I can take advantage of the 240hz speed.

One thing I wasn't sure about that I wondered others might be is the DP cable length. I know there's a newer DP2.1 standard that allows longer cables but does anyone know for sure if those cables will work with the G9?

I think I need at least a 2m cable, possibly a 3m so it's not really tight / I have to make a hole in the desk to make it reach.

I've got this one

KabelDirekt – DisplayPort 2.1/DP 2.1 Cable – 5m
