Samsung Targets Gamers With 3 Extremely Fast 990 Pro NVMe SSDs

Some people have reported still 100%, some of those few are non OS drives, some are, it seems the bulk of users reporting a drop in the comment sections are EU based although a small number of US.

As for other drives, I think the SN850x was the only other closest competitor, not heard of any others that match the 990 I don't think.

I've found another really good drive is the SK Hynix Platinum P41, it actually seems to beat the sn850x however it's also not sold in my region

Now Tom's Hardware and guru3D are sharing the situation too:

You should contact The Register about this, they would have a field day.

They called me "kahn"!!!!

Edit*
Another reddit thread with people reporting the same health drops: https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/10jkwwh/samsung_990_pro_ssd_with_rapid_health_drops/

The store accepted my RMA, they are out of stock so waiting for supplier to send replacement. I managed to find someone selling the sn850x so may just cut my losses and grab the sn850x and just sell the replacement 990 pro when it arrives. Either that or I just wait and they said it could take 2 weeks to get a new drive so I'm stuck without a working of now

I was reading this Reddit thread and noticed a few people confirming what I wonder could be happening - the people that bought multiple 990 Pros are only reporting rapid health/durability decline on the OS drive, the one they're using for storage only doesn't have the issue

I've been reading that also and it got me thinking if it's a Windows thing, i wonder if Linux logs would identify any hardware configuration problems with the drive.

Sent mine back yesterday and got a refund. Picked an SN850x instead.

Shame as I am a fan of Samsung SSD's. As it was my OS drive, I didnt want to take any risks.

Not wanting to sound like I keep repeating myself but the Kingston Fury is in that mix and worth considering. :) (not meaning a 990 competitor. I mean with regards to a P5 Plus or SN850X. That sort of company).

I have a free Sabrent 2TB Rocket 4 Plus G on the way though so looks like I'll be out of looking for a new NVMe any time soon :o

I'm feel a bit confused about Sabrent drives. They perform well enough, but their software looks like it was cobbled together on a shoestring budget.

"Up to 7,300/6,900 MB/s Seq. Read/Write" - nice.
