SAMSUNG

Sorry B&O are pretty bad. If you really know about audio then you stay clear.
They are NOT a good 'brand'.

Aren't they one of those perceived good (like Beats, Morphy Richards, etc) but are actually mediocre to crap?

You butted in on a conversation i was having with someone else and kept banging on about how you dont like the Note 2. I dont particularly care whether or not you like it or not, the fact of the matter is Samsung products have been doing pretty well of late. It's sold over 5 million units in 2 months. Can't be bad huh? Btw just out of interest what phone do you know? :p

Butted in? Correct me if I am wrong but this is a forum where people can discuss things (in this case Samsung) and voice their opinions.

Who cares how well Samsung are doing? Unless you have shares in them that is.

My current phone is an iPhone 5, not sure how that is relevant to this discussion though. I feel you have me marked as a blind Apple fanboy and are trying to use my phone to re-enforce your opinion of me. Well you are clearly a Samsung fanboy so we are obviously diametrically opposed.

You butted in yes. OK you dont like it.. thanks for sharing. Like it means anything anyway.

This thread is about Samsung so talking about how successful they are could be deemed relevant? The point i was making was it doesn't matter if you dont like them many others do.

I'm a technology fanboy get it right. The only thing i'm diametrically opposed to is your stupidity. I'm done with you man.

If you have something interesting to add to the discussion about Samsung they carry on, if not bugger off.

Boy has this thread turned into a name calling mess.

So much for decent discussion.

On the note of Samsung, I consider some of their products high end, such as their SSD's which are extremely good. I've not used too much of their products though, a few digital cameras and some old mobile phones.

I've usually preferred LG for electronics and especially their IPS monitor panels which are used to thoroughly.

TBH I do also find their GS 3 and note II in terms of design and touchwiz a wee bit girly :p

*dons flame proof suit*

And as expected, any apple/Samsung related thread has turned into an apple VS Samsung fanboy war once again  Time to lock the thread (again) I think.

I'd say Samsung are a middle brand IMO. I wouldn't aim to buy their products based on name alone, but equally if the product had favorable reviews I wouldn't purchase a panasonic/Sony instead. I went down the panasonic TV route, but that was mainly because I wanted a plasma rather than LCD.

IMO Sony are on a downwards trend in terms of quality, Samsung have improved in-terms of innovation and quality of products, Apple quality remains high, though innovation in the last few years hasn't been as great as previous years. Having said that I played with an Ipad mini (I know its just a smaller version of an ipad) yesterday and IMO it is better than the entire Ipad and Ipod range.

We have a few guys in our office who have come from Samsung and I'm amazed by the amount of markets Samsung operate in globally!

I've always been impressed by the Samsung products I've owned, my TV is the UE40D8000 and the picture quality, design and SmartTV functions are fantastic. You certainly get a lot for your money with their products in my opinion, which can't be said for some of the Sony products I've bought over time.

Samsung do release some tat though, like their Android portable media players and the Galaxy Camera which is completely overpriced for what you get image quality wise.

That really wasn't at all necessary.

Back on topic though, to those who think Samsung doesn't produce any premium products, have a look at some of these:

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UE46ES8000UXXU

And compare it to what many would describe as a more premium brand, Sony:

The Samsung TV is in (from what I can see so far) better in every way. Samsung have certainly imporved over the last deacde. I remember refusing to buy anything other than Sony at one point for tellies, but they've gone downhill and Samsung have taken their place, along with Panasonic IMO

This thread :(

On topic: I like Samsung, but wouldn't consider them a premium brand. Premium has to have everything, to justify the... Premium. Samsung's build quality has always been a bit below par for me to consider them in that band. To go into a slightly different market, I would consider Pioneer to be premium for audio equipment, especially when it comes to club standards. There doesn't seem to be a similar contender for me when it comes to TVs.

We got a UE40ES8000 for the bedroom last weekend its amazing in every way (as amazing as a TV can be)

Surely you can't just blanket say "Samsung are/aren't a premium brand"?

Depends on the market you're talking about; TVs they're certainly a major player and produce some of the best products in that market.

In cameras though, if you asked 100 people about the brand that comes to mind when thinking of cameras, majority would mention Nikon and Canon before they would Samsung.

Actually Samsung do make some pretty decent camera's the TL500/ EX1 is a really good camera though it is getting on abit now, also the 2nd Gen NX range is pretty good aswell & the lens selection is improving with some intresting glass to be launched soon, I find the NX20 to be a really good camera thing going against it is it price around £800, which is overpriced in my book.

I didn't say their cameras weren't any good, I'm coming from the angle that their brand value in things like televisions is stronger than in cameras.

I own the NX1000 and it's a very capable compact system. I've already got three lenses for it.

I'd still rate Samsung below the likes of Panasonic and Sony for camera. (I'm not particularly knowledgeable about photography though)

The fanboys are out on force it seems today.

I own a Samsung Galaxy S2, works perfectly for my needs. I can appreciate how some might not like plastic cover, but that doesn't bother me very much personally.
