****San Diego 3700+ Steppings and Clocks- Retail and OEM****

nice clocking - heffy voltage needed mind you!!! Wouldn't like to run mine at that level for to long. Will you leave it running at that level or tone it down a bit??

I'm running a 3700+ CABGE 0515 SPMW (I think thats the stepping, deffo CABGE).

Anyway, at 2585 (235x11) It will prime for an hour or so but only at 1.55v, anything less and it fails prime immediately.

I'm running 2GB Corsair 3500LL Pro at 1:1 at 470Mhz at 2.5-3-3-6 timings. Should I run this ram on a divider to get the CPU stable with less volts?

I'm thinking my CPU is a bad egg in terms of steppings though.

CABGE is deffo one of the worst steppings as they require a lot of voltage to run stable.

@Big.Wayne, I think that the retail 3700+ are (were) KAB2E ones, I remember it from several older threads.

Top of page 2 was posted as retail for KAB3E retail chips, although he didn't confirm if that was from OcUK.

I've got mine to 2.64 11x240 at the moment.

It is SuperPi 32M stable, will try prime in the next couple of days when i get time to run it..

ive managed to get mine at :-

2.65ghz @ 1.325v

265x10 1:1 but ive tried 270x10 i get memtest erros

so ram is maxing out now but im happy!

Why not try at the deafult 11x multiplier  that will allow a lower HTT (FSB) speed.

And why such a low VCore?

Nice result with the x10 multi and the low vcore. Whats your temps? unloaded and loaded...

Bump up the vcore to 1.50v or there abouts and jack the multi up to 11x. Then you should be yeilding better results.

Having problems with OC at the moment.

Have gone from SuperPi stable at 2.65Ghz to being unable to boot into windows above 2.43Ghz.

Doing a burn in on SiSoft, trying to get the CPU warmed up before going for further overclocks, but the good news is it is now stable @2.43Ghz. will leave it a couple of weeks before i crank up the overclock again.

Interestingly, when i manually set the Vcore i have stability issues, but when i leave it on auto it is fine.

still not had time to play about anymore with it since adding new cooler. will do soon.

This was with stock cooler.

OK, I've now gotmy overclock turned up a little more.

Back to running:
11*230: 2.53Ghz

Primed for 1 Hour, all ok, will prime for another 9 or 10 hours today while at work and see if we can't keep this thing stable...

Finally got my OEM 3700 via citylink today
However it's not the same stepping as Cliffy's "CCBWE 0543" that I was expecting. I'm suprised as the order went in just a few days after his arrived.
The stepping I have is "KACAE 0601" which I thought was a retail stepping. Anyhow going to give it a whirl, see what I can get from it. 2750 is the target, to get more will be a bonus!

Results to follow over the weekend
