****San Diego 3700+ Steppings and Clocks- Retail and OEM****

Mine came today too (retail) its a KACAE 0550 iirc. unfortunately my graphics card has been delayed so won't have any results up till next week :(

The 3700 went in this morning, set the chip up straight in @11x240 on a divider, no problem. Have finally settled for 11x250 on a 1-1 memory ratio and 1.4 v-core. Primed it for 2 hours with no errors. I did some cursory pushing to 2800 but it kept failing Super-Pi no matter what V-Core / memory setting I used. At the moment I'm happy with 2750 and will probably keep it at this speed for now.

Desktop Screenie 3DMark/CPU-Z

Sig updated with full details.

Nice results. May be even better after a couple of weeks burning in...

I seem to be stuck at 2.53Ghz. Prime stable for 10 hours, but itching to try and get to 2.75....

Will keep trying for more.

Ok, Were moving on slowly.

I'm taking this one step at a time, trying to get the machine stable before taking up a level.

Currently @ 11*238 2618Mhz.

Ran prime stable for 10hrs, but crashed after 1/2 when playing quake 3

I thought prime was the ultimate stability test? How the hell can a machine be prime stable for 10hrs, then get beaten up by a silly little game like Quake3?

Before Big.wayne jumps in about no screenies... 2.6Ghz is not a particuarly pleasing clock. If I hit 2.7Ghz or above, then i'll post screens, when it's worth showing off..

Was that Dual Prime? (1xSmall FFTs and 1x Large FFTs)

No, it was single prime. But now i have tried to run SuperPi 32m and it crashed after 15 Iterations.

Looks like i'm gonna have to wind it back for a bit longer before i step up to the mark again.

sounds like memory problems. have you run memtest?

Mines a CABGE 0515 SPMW... These are what I have tested it at:

2717MHz - 247x11 @ 1.425V
2772MHz - 252x11 @ 1.5V
2900MHz - 290x10 @ 1.55V Super Pi stable not Prime stable.

Haven't found where my max Prime stable is yet, thats something for me to do when I'm bored.

I'm currently running it at 2717MHz as I feel its the best balance between speed and volts:)

Looks like anything over 2772Mhz requires a lot more volts as going from 2717Mhz to 2772 requires 0.075V extra which is a lot for 55Mhz CPU speed.

Yeh thats why I run it at 2.72GHz. I don't feel that putting the extra volts through my CPU is worth it.

I only rammed it up to 2900 to see if it could handle it and also in a desperate bid to get my SuperPi time below 29s:D

When i first got my 3700 it ran 12hrs prime95 at 3.1ghz at 1.55v. Then after reinstalling it wasnt stable and had to back it down to 3ghz at 1.54v. This was all on air. Still the best single core clocker i've ever had

What stepping was that ted? or is that too long ago to remember?

Had my 3700 San Diego up to 2.8Ghz @ 1.45V. It's currently at 2.6Ghz 1.4V using an Arctic Cooler soon to be replaced by a Zalman thingy. I'm also using cheapy OcUK memory @ 1:1

I'm having random issues with my PC, even after throttling off the overclock and running at stock, so I have ordered a new graphics card - Powercolor x800gt (the offer finished on OcUK for the GTO16 which i was going to buy this morning). I will be getting 2GB of the Veil value RAM next week, so i'll try and clock it back up again after that is installed, and hope there are no major issues with my machine..

Overclocked to 2.6ghz

I clocked mine to 2640 (fSB 240 x 11) and tried it out in 3d mark 05, and got a lower CPU score than it running at standards speeds. No issues or anything and it's a stable 40 degrees, any ideas why would it be slower?

3Dmark05 is mainly a VPU tester, but it could be a memory issue.

Are you running a divider? A bit more information on the system and set-up would be helpful.

3d Mark

I know 3d mark is about GFX, but my CPU score was lower which struck me as odd (not much lower, but I was expecting it to increase.
System is:
3700 w freezer pro
Asus a8n sli premium
1 gig corsair twinx (2 x 512)
connect 3d x1800xt (256)

To achieve the overclock i just ramped up the fsb, multplier of 11 and set ht to 3 and auto (seperate times)

Erm.. I'm quite new to thois too as you can probably tell
