****San Diego 3700+ Steppings and Clocks- Retail and OEM****

Running 100% prime stable at 2805mhz (11x255) on 1.50v on my 3700 Sandy, can't remember the stepping however :(

Went to 2900mhz with 1.6v but wasn't happy putting that much voltage through the chip on air cooling.

Could only get 2700mhz tops out of my old Asus A8N Premuim, got the Sapphire Pure Innovation, clocks like a dream :)

*edit reread my post and its 255 not 155 :o*

I know 3d mark is about GFX, but my CPU score was lower which struck me as odd (not much lower, but I was expecting it to increase.
System is:
3700 w freezer pro
Asus a8n sli premium
1 gig corsair twinx (2 x 512)
connect 3d x1800xt (256)

To achieve the overclock i just ramped up the fsb, multplier of 11 and set ht to 3 and auto (seperate times)

Erm.. I'm quite new to thois too as you can probably tell

So what you are saying is your Memory is running 1:1, so you have clocked your memory to 240Mhz. This is the potential problem. Try putting the memory on a divider to bring it down and see if the problem is eliminated. Either that or try running memtest and see how it goes.

I'm afraid I don't know what a divider is, but I set the ram to 333 mhz so when clocked it's running at just over 400mhz. this seems to have done the trick nicely - CPU quite comfortable at 2.7g and a pleasing boost in 3d mark. Now all I need is to get the set up right for my x1800xt, which I think is letting the side down a bit, but I guess there's a different folder for that!

That means you are using a divider already, all it does is run the memory at a lower speed than the HTT (FSB)

Has anyone bought a retail 3700 from OcUK recently? Just ordering one on Tuesday and was wondering what the steppings on the latest batch are and how they are clocking?
Many thanks

Got mine running @ 2.7ghz (245*11). Stock volts (1.4V) running under a artic coooler 64. Idle about 31 under full load about 42/3.

Just banging in some nice G skill 2gb running at 1T, stock timings (can;t remember what they are!)

Tried to bump up the clock to 250 fsb but just kept failing under prime between 1 and 4 mins, tried uping the volts by one step at a time (0.125v each time) got to 1.475 and still wan;t prime stable.

Should i ease off the timings on the ram? and try again or should i just be happy with 2.7ghz??? :p

What Prime test are you running?

What cooler + fan and steping

its KABCE 0542 FPMW with a xp120 with a vantec stealth fan. Run my 170 which also hits 3ghz with the same cooler. Got a ninja on the way so should hopefully get a bit higher out of the 170. Doubt i'll ever use my 3700 again.

The main one that does everything - torture test (i think, not near home pc currently). I used this to check the 2.7ghz overclock a while back.

Use small fft as that tests the cpu and then use memtest to check your memory

Young Lad I take it you want to find out the stepping? It says on the chip itself, you will need to take the heatsink off and write the stepping down.

I dont dare do that lmao dont want to brake it :) but if i know they all do 2.7 on stock volts then its ok:).
Also what temps can u expect on a artic freezer 64 thingy?

Could some 1 please give me all the things i would need to change in my BIOS so i can print them and add them in dont want it to be unstable.

2x1gv geil TwinX
no idea on my cpu stepping
artic 64 freezer

Cheers and what temps u think is safe and what will i get with ure list?

Cheers again
