Mine would not boot into windows @ 2.8GHz with 1.45V. Have I reached the limit of my chip?

At 1.45v I don't think you will have reached the limit of your chip, but it depends how much voltage you are willing to give it. Some people go up to 1.55v and consider that to be ok.

At the end of the day, you can be happy at [email protected], or you can try and go to higher volts to get higher Ghz, but it does depend on how you feel about it.

Bought my 3700 last week and it seems pretty comfortable running at 2750 250x11 Stock volts. :)

Might try and get some more out it, but it might be more trouble than its worth.

My 6 day old KAB3E 0546 (OEM) is pretty much maxed out @ 2800 1.55v
Not fully stable yet (ram I think) so run @ 245x11 1.45v 2670mhz
Got it from the best place to get Performance Hardware from…

Tekhea………….OCUK ;)

Pushed the FSB up to 255 taking me to 2804.7
I've increased the voltage to 1.4 in the bios, however cpu-z is still showing it at 1.344v so it doesn't seem to have taken effect.

Seems to be stable so far, SuperPi finished ok, just running it through Prime atm.

Highest temp so far is 46, so lookin good :D

my san diego does 2.7 at stock volts, up to 2.9 at 1.41 and 3ghz at 1.45 but i', scared to push it farther....

Go by your temps rather than volts. I have my 3700 running at 3.1ghz @ 1.54v on xp120 and vantec stealth (silent air cooling). This doesnt exceed 40degrees load and idles at 30degrees. From what it sounds like you have an excelent clocker there that will easy do 3ghz. Dont be scared to go up to 1.6v on air as long as your temps are fine. Id try and keep them below 50 on load and you wont have any probs.

Make sure you disable cool and quiet in the bios, or that will underclock your chip. Also, do you happen to have an ASROCK Dual Sata? I have a similar problem with mine not seeming to actually put any more than 1.360 Volts through the chip, according to CPU-z.

If I want to push for 2.8GHz would I need to up any of the other volts or just the CPU ones? As my CPU is at 1.45v and everything else is untouched.

Hmm I'll have to check out the Cool and Quiet option, not played with that one yet. Yes I have the ASRock, I think it may require a workaround to be able to correctly modify the CPU voltage (sure I've read something about it in these forums).

How can i check what model thing mine is? I wudnt mind seeing if i can clock it a bit more :)

*edit*

would MU0F710 be it?

Hi,
I dunno if this usually happens but for some strange reasons my PC seems to have underclocked itself back to its orginal speed. I was running a 3700+ @ 2.6Ghz which I primmed for 8.5 hours without errors now for some unknown reason its back to 2.2GHz. I am 100% sure I did not accidentally touch something in the BIOS as i've not been in there since my Overclock. Does this sort of thing usually happen or is something wrong?

Thanks

Did any of your other bios settings change?, I've heard of bios values being reset occasionally on some motherboards. Also if youve have had issues booting the mobo may has stepped you back down to default in order to allow bios access (certainly the ASRock board does that).

Umm its back up too 2.6GHz now and I didn't even have to change it back :) Perhaps it could be something to do with me starting to use 'stand by' instead of shut down?
