Sapphire GTO² available exclusively from OcUK and Modding instrutions inside.....

i've got the new psu, comes in a big box thing. gonna put it in now, also got a 1gb mem stick for my psp.

also about the OEM, you dont get a box, which i think is stupid seeing as it only came it a jiffy bag, the jiffy bag looks like its taken some knocks.

Providing you have definitely connected everything up correctly, i.e, the case wires are the right polarity etc you may have a faulty motherboard. Is there any way you can test the card in a mates machine? Also, can you get hold of an ordinary PCI card to test that?

Does the mobo light come on?

Is the monitor working?

Might be a faulty X800GTO2?

Sorry i cannot be of any more help.

the is no other way, im gonna go down to the place where i got the mobo/cpu/memory the place rhymes with cucumbers, so they will be able to test with another pci card.

im using the tft monitor now, and im using the ram in my other pc(tis so much faster so im quite happy, but still annoyed), so its either mobo/cpu/GTO2. :S

just gonna go and mess with my psp and its new 1gb mem stick :D

where abouts are u located mate, mebbe someone here is local enough for you to test your card :)

it would be very rare for cpu to be borked, have u tried clearing cmos on the board?

dunno about the Asus but the DFI's quite often wont boot 1st time without a cmos reset lol might be wortha try if you havent done already :)

I'm from Wigan, but i don't have a PCI-E graphics card, unfortunately. Sorry i can't help out. :(

Cheets,

On the graphic card are you using the pcie cable direct off the power supply or an adapter that is also going to the hard drive?

Use the dedicated connector direct from power supply and disconnect the hard drive - am clutching at straws but wiorth a shot.

Also ensure all power connectors are connected on mb, on my DFI I need a floppy cable and a standard molex connector connected as well as the normal power cables.

Regards,

Matt

Quick question for y'all in the know about flashing.

Where it says to boot into DOS. Does that mean booting from a floppy? Or just going into Start>Accessories>Command prompt?

Or is there another way?

bootable floppy m8

maybe instructions could read easier like this

to flash the bios to 16 pipelines

You need the two following file:-
Flashrom program and 16 pipeline bios

1.) create a bootable floppy and put the flashrom files in the zip onto it

2.) boot into DOS

3.) backup old BIOS: flashrom –s biosold.bin

4.) update card with new BIOS: flashrom -f -p 0 16p_gto.bin

5.) make sure you hear a beep to tell you flashing has been successful

6.) reboot,and pray its done

In the thread titled "X800 GTO2 Thread, post your mods and clocks here"
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17478555

there are people who have done it... Examples...

Bito
Just flashed mine with the Crucial X850XT bios !!
This bios is for the VGA/DVI X850 cards, same layout as the GTO2
Using ATi Tool to speed up the fan, it works great as a fully fledged X850XT!!
Will try for more later, when i get my w/cooling back up
I already know the memory goes beyond the PE speeds

Wr8ith
Mine turned up yesterday., along with a new mobo. (Previously had an HIS 9800Pro 128mb)

After re-installing Windows, a bit of tweaking with ATI Tray Tool / ATI Tool, this is the highest i've had it:

Core: 400mhz > 550Mhz (Stable)
Memory: 490mhz > 580Mhz (Stable)

I've dropped it back to 520 Core / 540 Mem for now until I fit the arctic cooler (hopefully reduce the fan noise!), then I'll do more testing

Also successfully modded it to 16 Pipelines, as per techpowerup instructions.

Quite impressed so far, since I just wanted a cheap card for the time being so I could go PCI Express.

cheets

Hey, cheets trying have only only ram stick in the motherboard and put it in slot B1 (the third slot). I have an ASUS mobo and if ive only got 1 stick, the manual tells me to put it into that slot, this might be the same with yours, good luck!

I ordered this card yesterday, I dont really know much (anything!) about flashing, so far this is what ive understood. Create a bootable floppy and stick flashrom and the modded bios onto it then flashrom –s biosold.bin to backup old bios then flashrom -f -p 0 newbios.bin then reboot and it will have 16pipes! However since this is all new to me im a little scared incase anything goes wrong as I wouldnt know what to do if it didnt work. Could someone tell me what I should do if I reboot and get nothing on the screen!

Be interesting to see how other people get on with this card. I suppose a better step by step guide to flashing it for complete Noobs (Like me) would be a good idea. Especially if it has never ever been attempted before. The guide here by Overclockers might aswell be written in Chinese as far as i am concerned!!!! Lol

If people really are having that much trouble, then someone could knock up a boot disk image that will do it all automatically. Just need to add the lines to the autoexec.bat file. It's also good to have one handy to flash back in case anything goes wrong.
