Sapphire GTO² available exclusively from OcUK and Modding instrutions inside.....

Received the card this morning, installed it but like cheets had no display on screen, using d-sub connector.

Tried the adapter to use other port and it works fine, just run 3d marks 2001se and got just over 20,000 at stock.

Will try the flash later and see what changes it makes.

Regards,

Matt

Its stupid(and illigal) to advertise something that it doesnt follow the standards of the manufacturing process.I am impressed how low ati fall to advertise the modding capabilities of a product.None is going to buy the card "AS IT IS" and since it is not quarantied that it will perform like an x850 and it will void thw warrant i suggest to stay away from this scam.
Once again,ATI acts miserably, too bad because he was on top a few months ago

Nqr i think you got wrong end of the stick m8,its more ocuk guys knowing that most people on here like a bargain even if it means a little messing with a bios flash well i hope anyway, its got nothing to do with ati directly far as im concerned (apart from its their card of course).

Hhhmm well I couldn't hold off flashing the card....

Results - well erm, my monitor now doesn't like the card and I have to disconnect it and reconnect it and it soemtimes displays windows.

The card is picked up as an 850, however the drivers for some reason won't allow me to up the resolution past 800*600???

Am gonna remover the drivers and reinstall to see what happens.

Regards,

Matt

Well, removed the drivers and now get no output on the x800 so have put my 300 back in.

The PC boots but the monitor states it's receiving no signal output, anyone got an idea on what to do?

Am wondering if I can reflash the x800 back to a std gto2, gonna have to do it blind though as there isn't any output???

regards,

Matt

p.s. is it possible to have both cards in on my dfi board and when flashing state which card to flash?

Ok, reflashed with oldbios - well one copied from techpowerup and it works again, don't have to unplug monitor cable or nothing, think I'm going to leave it as is!!!

One thing - haven't installed drivers but atitool is showing *** card as though it has 0 pipelines - do these only come active with the drivers or ???

regards,

Matt

Ati would never have anything to do with advertising it as a modable card, it would be against their own interests. Why would Ati advertise a card that could do X850 XT PE speeds when they'd really want you to buy the more expensive X850 series. These GTO2's are Sapphire’s own creation; they purchased a bunch of R480 cores and created their own unique card. Sapphire also do not advertise this as a modable card, I’m pretty sure Ati wouldn’t like that either. Sapphire are however advertising this as an very overclockable card (Samsung 1.6 memory and the R480 core) to go with their Trix Overclocking Software.

A user (who is very experienced with graphics cards) got a card before most people and through his own research found that you can unlock the dormant pipelines. He was the guy who wrote the techpowerup article that started this whole GTO2 craze.

Just to add to this further, have reflashed the card once more to 16 pipes and - touch wood - it is now running fiine.

Just run 3dmark 2001se and it now gets 21033 at default clocks 400 - 492.

Will let it run in for a while before altering mem and core up.

Regards,

Matt

P.S. My first card I ever flashed, yes it was scary when it did display anything but am glad i tried again with this.

can someone not write me a batch script for the whole process of the flash that i can put on a bootable CD ?? i have no floppy drive and im lazy...

Floppy drives are so cheap to buy locutus12. Just go out and buy one as they do come in handy now and again!

Anyway, how is the card holding up?
A bootable CD that does it automatically would be nice though. :)
