SAPPHIRE RX 480 NITRO NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (WORLD FIRST) !!!

I swapped my order for an 8GB Nitro+ OC RX 470. Basically the same card and I saved myself some money and it's in stock :)
The 470 was my original plan too, the card I was always most excited about. A new new price/performance king.

I'm glad that the Sapphire Nitro versions don't have the lower VRAM speeds, really puts it right on even the 8GB 480's tail.

I know, when the OcUK deliveries seemed to be dribs and drabs, I just stumped up for an Nvidia card, in stock, delivered, fitted and working really well.

oooo... careful.. don't say that too loud though, the children don't like that you chose something else because AMD failed to deliver.

On a serious note, I will be very interested to see what happens once both 480 and 1060 are fully in stock.

Only the insecure ones :D I personally think this year is a good year in mainstream either way ,The GTX 1060 and The RX 480 both give an very good gaming experience for the price . :D

Without dredging through this entire thread... What is the current estimated arrival day for Powercolor cards? I was told Aug 12 before via webnote, but I think I am reading there have been delays?

Could anyone shed some light on this please? What date for Devils, and how many (if anybody knows)?

ETA for them was over 2 weeks ago. Since then nothing.
If they are the 12th I'm just going to cancel my order tomorrow morning and go elsewhere.

I think the 470 is too expensive. The 8gb 470 is only £30 cheaper than the 8gb 480, and more expensive than the 4gb 480, minus the wait time i think most people would want a 480, 4gb or 8gb, rather than a 470.

I was 390 in the queue last week for a 8gb Nitro OC, told i could get it this month though it was unlikely.

The 4gb i would almost be guaranteed it, if i was to change to that model and would get it this month.

If this helps anyone decide what whether they want to switch models at all.

TBH this just made the 470 appear more tempting as i want a card now lol.

Yeah, and the performance difference is even smaller. IMO they are both so close that they fill exactly the same role, they are going to play all the same games, same settings, with single digit fps difference. Neither are good enough for 1440p. If you are on a 100+hz monitor there will be a difference, but I probably wouldn't notice the 3 less fps tbh.

Well I just couldn't help myself, I just picked up one of these Freesync monitors:

http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-29UM68

I really wanted something with a 144Mhz refresh rate & a Freesync range down in to the 30hz, however this also doubles the price :-(

As long as the RX 480 can push 40fps minimum this should work out nicely, I'll have to make 40fps my absolute minimum and set the quality settings appropriately.

I've heard tearing can occur over the maximum too (75hz) - so is it worth locking games (if possible) to 75fps max to stop this from happening? Can the 480 do that?

EDIT: I've just read the monitor can be overclocked slightly which will be a nice bonus :) 32-85hz apparently.

You need to enable FreeSync via the monitor OSD, then enable it in Radeon Settings > Displays, then enable Vsync in game. Voila, you'll never fall out of the FreeSync range unless you drop below the range.
Remember, FreeSync removes all the negative aspects of Vsync, so there is no reason not to enable it, unless it is buggy with a particular game. In that case, use FRTC to lock the FPS to 74, 1 below the top range.

Wait 2-2.5 weeks they said as the 480 launches then.... Wait another week or two to place an AIB preorder they said.... Wait another month for it to arrive
