And its a LABOUR MELTDOWN.

Probably best to make a new thread, not sure people want to hear our ramblings!

It's true, Labour have safer seats but it was a big one for them to loose. I always thought that the SNP would do very well and I have mused about them taking the majority and I think with taking the EK seat it's a possibility. It's good to see the Conservative vote is holding up though. Whilst the GE is miles away it's good to see there is still support out there.

She doesn't look like a Fabiani... Her husband own a chippy?

EK EK EK EK!

This is going to be a landslide!!

Ya dancer! :D

On going results -

SNP - 55 Seats
Lab - 26 Seats
Lib Dems - 3 Seats
Conservative - 9 Seat
Greens - 1 Seat
65 seats required for a majority.

SNP +23
Lab -10
Lib Dems -10
Cons -4
Others - +1.

Big Shocks -

SNP are whipping everyone. I said after the second declaration it's an SNP majority. Let's see what happens.
Iain Gray (Scottish Labour Leader) holds on with a majority of 151!
12.6% swing from Labour to SNP in Shettlestone (a very prominent and 'safe' Labour seat). SNP took it.
Alex Salmond gets a 15000 majority, 64.5% of the vote.

At 5am, the SNP had 21 seats, Labour had 11, Lib Dems had 2, Conservatives had one.
At 11.30, the SNP have 49, Labour, 23, Conservative 7, Lib Dems 2 and the Greens one. Just shows how much they have achieved.
1430 - Confirmed that the SNP take the majority.

Reckon Iain Gray will go? He's on the list, right?

I pray to god he will.

Then what? Well, no more running that's for sure!

Even these couple of first seats have shown Labour are in actual, real, meltdown.

I'm going to pop open another beer and enjoy this thoroughly.

I was going to have an early night, but I'll watch it for another wee while.
I'm an Englishman, and a Tory, I live 5 minutes from the Tennent's Brewery.
Time for a Carling. :p

//I know nothing of Scottish politics or politics in general, any nationalist party sounds scary though.

Ooooh, nationalists. Quick, string them up!!! ;) :D

Would it interest you to know that the Conservatives are a nationalist party?

Odd line for Labour to take. Admitting that they approached the election all wrong and didn't realize the different 'dynamic' in Scotland. Everyone knows that Scotland is not Britain and the politics and values are different.
I also think many people aren't aware that many decisions that happen in Westminster which get lots of headlines in the press don't actually apply up here. Parties need to realize this and I don't think Labour have. They're making it easy for you guys.

YOU *******.

I nearly believed that for a second!! :D

I think he's out. Out out out out!!!

Couldn't resist it :D.

Should be getting some results any minute now. Iain Grays included!

I had a chance to go to the Glasgow count, glad I didn't. Sitting here in my PJs, with a can, arguing on the internet is far more fun. Though, I coulda got some Hovis on the telly...

Labour just smashed LD in Liverpool, and LD expecting to lose all their seats in Manchester.

Mike Storey has lost his seat to an 18 year old apparently!

Hot Candidate Alert! Where is she? Oh, she won. Hot MSP Alert! (Well, hot for a MSP)...

Another SNP gain over Labour, Clydesdale.
Three horse race, Lib Dems forgot to get their papers in on time (it's a conspiracy!). Suggests that Lib Dems are going to SNP though?
+16% change to SNP, Con down 5. Swing of 8.9% to SNP. Big.

Haghaha, as soon as I saw her I thought 'oh aye' ;)

She's young! Well done to her over turning a labour seat like that.

I'm going to bed happy tonight. :)

(Yes, that's how I took the swing too i think. People are moving)

Were the BBC trying to make it out that it was confusing as to how Plaid Cymru have not been gaining on Labour like the SNP have been in Scotland.
