Scuba Diving thread?

Just booked our holiday to Tanzania, including 10 days on Mafia Island in June. Cannot wait!

Just googled that. Looks great!

I'm off for 3 weeks of fun in Indonesia.

First week is mick diving in Lembeh, looking for the macro life - frogfish aplenty!

week 3 is in Lembongan looking for the big guns! Mantas and if lucky the mola mola. :D

Week 2 is planned as a 'dry week...'

Just booked nearly 4 months in asia, which will turn into mainly a diving holiday most likely. Thats what happened the last time! Just need to decide what to do now

Hmmmm.. Ship wreck, wetsuits... Good vis, fairly bare rocks... Mediterranean?

Was thinking the same. Looks almost identical to where i worked in croatia!

Anyone got any advice on where to dive in malaysia and decent centres to use?

I'm in the middle:

It is a real shame at the lack of sea life, especially with me having done a lot of diving in Tofo, Mozambique, but the geology here us amazing, plenty of amazing caves and cliffs with us finding more every year.

*edit* Does anyone know somewhere good to complete my instructor training? Somewhere with a bit of life, South America, Northern Aus, Fiji etc.

Enjoy training in the UK in a wetsuit :D

Ha, dry suit diving for me back home! My mate lives in Plymouth & goes out in a wet suit, madness!

Have another picture:

That is the exit of one of my favourite caves out here, pitch black in side with a lot of nice small spaces to squeeze in to and thousands of little shrimps :D

The exit is at about 22m half way down a cliff which drops down to 35-40m, with the entrance at 7m on the top of the cliff, awesome dive!

Ah training at stoney cove in February in a semi dry, I must have been mad.

I stupidly decided i wasn't going to dive this term so left my drysuit at home. Stoney cove in a semi dry on tuesday :/. Made even better by the fact ill be doing someone 35m depth progression most likely. 5 degrees here i come!

On the plus side my backscatter housing has arrived for my gopro so will get to test it out!

I saw that in the 'Things bought this month thread', report back with results!

Will do, most likely not very well as i will have no torch and dont have a green water filter. Will chuck the blue water one on and see what happens.

Was bought as im off to asia for 4 months to do Koh Tao, similans,Perhentians, Sipadan etc so wanted to make sure i got some decent video.

To quote myself from another thread:

Professional diver here :D

As for mounting it on something the best thing is something like this:

They are great & very resistant to the salt water. They offer the most stable platform and you will be able to get the GoPro much closer to any fish & critters for some awesome shots.

Obviously with taking a camera under water, red is the first colour to go so a red filter makes footage 10 times better but is costly as you need an after market housing.

They are very good and do make a world of difference.

Anyone dived in Belize?

I'm thinking of going with the GF at christmas and she wants to learn to dive and I want to get another couple of dives under my belt after getting mine last november. Does anyone have any recommendation for a reliable dive company?
