Seagate 7200.10's are noisiest drives EVER!

Two 7200.10 320's, one Pink, the other is white, but both are extremely quiet. Sure there is some seek/access noise, but just idle they are no more noisy than the Samsung Spinpoints I had before.

i got both of mine from oc, the replacement i got was pink and the original that worked for me was also pink. Both are fine now and yes they were bought from OCuk. Like i said the 2 1 was pink and the other green but OC replaced the green within a week. I believe there are people running green 1s fine so it could just have been a cooincidence with me, my advise is buy and RMA if you get a bad 1. This way you get the best drive out there but with the risk of some hassle, not the end of the world having to RMA a drive

i fitted the replacement (pink) and it seems quieter, although im running 4 HDDs in the system now and it has increased the 'hum' im guessing 4 drives does that. I use headphones most of the time anyway or im sleeping, just hope i can get to sleep near this beast

Last night Ive completed installed Win Vista Ultimate OEM but activation stopped and asked me to get new key either buy new one or phone MS for get product code keys so I wrote down 48-digits numbers and free call (UK 0800) and then got new one and been activated completed - I just upgraded 2 hard drives -- anyway it worked prefer with my 2 x 500GB Seagate as it very quieter and very fast... much better. :)

No great surprise tbh after all the stories I've heard.
have to say i ordered x2 of these segates, mine says manufactuered in thailand, bought these this week..
btw im happy with ocuk , i know there not always the cheapest, they give honest advice on the phone, instead of just selling you the goods, they also have a very good tech support also.
this is just my personal experiance with them.

Further to my last post I eventually got round to installing this drive.

Its VERY quiet. I replaced it for my old 74gig raptor. That was as loud as the god of thunder. Can hardly even hear the seek/read noise. Very impressed with the speed too. Seems quicker than the raptor.

It has pink glue, sticker on the motor and is made in Thailand. See my earlier post for pics.

Has anyone got one with green goo and is quiet? I've for 4 drives with green goo, and 1 with pink goo.... I think I'm gonna have to return 4 drives. :(

EDIT: When RMA'ing, do they normally go back to the shop or do they have to be posted off?

Id say you are in the best position to test if u can get a silent green goo drive. I would test them all before u RMA, ofcourse.

Not from OCUK, but somewhere quite near me. I cannot really mention them otherwise I'll be breaking rules. :)

I'venow tested 'em, and all 4 of the green goo ones are noisey..

Now I have to backup everything on to 200 or so DVD's
