Some etailers in Germany are listing this at around 230 euro, so I am optimistic. Will also be good competition to (hopefully) push down WD Red prices.

the 4tb's seem to be falling already which is nice

id be surprised if the 8tb's don't have a premium attached but it would be a nice surprise

Was going to buy some WD Reds for NAS but will wait a few more weeks to see if this has any affects on pricing.

Are you sure about that? The only 8tb seagate externals I can see are 2x 4tbs in a dual bay

Amazing! with a quick calculation of the seagate line, the 3TB is still the best gb per £ but god these are going to drive some prices down!

Technically speaking it's an archive drive, though not sure how much this really means...

Same tbh - I know you dont want to put a regular drive in a nas - not rated for 24/7 usage etc but not sure about enterprise grade drives

Surely as an "archive drive" it is rated for NAS use?
If they are ~ £ 230, surely the 4 and 3 TB drive prices will drift down a bit.

Meh, I use desktop drives in my server. None of them have blown up yet. It has been 5 years.
