Secret Invasion (Marvel TV Series)

Wasn't a great series, fairly dull in places. I probably would have skipped it but Disney/Marvel kinda got you by the short and curlies cos you sort of have to watch everything now or you miss stuff when the next film comes out.

Fortunately it was fairly short.

Not sure how or what they are gonna do with Gaia now she has so many powers. I expect they will just forget about that and leave everyone asking "what about Gaia?"

Think the only reason to watch the series was to learn abour Rhodey. But now we gotta wait until Armor Wars in 2026 for more details?

Actually quite enjoyed it as far as this phase goes, not that that’s saying much. Throws up plot issues all over the place though. Coleman was far better than I was expecting.

I didn't think it was too bad but the super fight at the end was an anticlimax. I agree with the post suggesting a purely espionage solution would have been better.

I quite enjoyed it but where did they spend $200m the mind boggles. I saw a photo where even normal domestic scenes were done in CGI and it just makes you scratch your head, practical effects are nearly always cheaper and better where possible.

This is so stupid and a mistake from the director imo.

The director seems to suggest Rhodey was a Skrull replacement as early as the end of Civil war. So it was skrull throughout all of End game? That is preposterous, you saw Rhodey bleeding red blood when he was the injured and how limited he was particularly if it was the end of the universe but he still maintained his cover throughout and didnt utilise his other skrull powers to help at all?? lol Its laughable how badly shoe horned that is. Sorry dont buy it. Thats just saying stupid stuff to try and make the show relevant. Not impressed at all.

Ali Selim noted how Rhodey wearing a hospital gown and having difficulty walking after he was woken up in the finale "points to" his replacement coming after his injury in Captain America: Civil War. "A lot of people have asked about, ‘Definitively, when did Rhodey...?’ I think his legs not working in the end of episode six and him being in the hospital gown points to ['Captain America: Civil War']".

Always love these. This one is perfect.

The craziest thing is that perhaps the Kree were right all along. Had forgotten parts of Captain Marvel.

Its funny but true (particularly the powers bit), goes to show the director and writers dont really know the material and have not thought this through at all. Just making random ***p and hope it sticks. Awful.

It was poorly directed anyway, and looks like it was cobbled together in the edit.

I'm pretty much going to ignore what happened in that show.
I expect by the time it comes round to needing to remember anything that happened you will have forgotten anyway.

Its possible Rhodey might make an appearance in Captain America 4? asking WTF happened in the last 10 years

Whole things a mess with pretty flimsy ideas. The only concept that worth anything is what they taken from the source material and even then made a dogs dinner out of it.

Just when you think it cant get worse... it does. I really dont understand how they can spend so much on a show like this and for it to be so bad? Surely this isnt sustainable.

I think COVID is a big reason.

Budgets have been hugely inflated by all the extra restrictions put in place during 2020-2022.

And quality has also been impacted due to the same restrictions. Some movies and TV shows dealt with it better than others, clearly this wasn't one of them.

Just look at Mission Impossible, which was the first movie to start filming during COVID. That's an example of a movie that managed to navigate it well.

Listening to Chris Macquarrie on the empire spoiler special podcast, COVID restrictions sounded like a nightmare - no wonder Tom Cruise lost his **** on set at somebody breaking protocol

Mis-direction and non-definitive answer (on purpose), I'm certain. Or they haven't figured it out yet, but that seems very un-Marvel as most characters arcs are already planned for the next few years. I personally think he is swapped after Endgame and it will be mentioned/answered in a futre show/film. I don't spend too much time reading articles about Marvel stuff I watch, but they are usually quite good at keeping secrets, so I doubt they would allow a director of a TV series to give away what was the "big twist" of Secret Invasion. I'm not sure what he would appear in next, apart from Armour Wars. Maybe What if S2.

Edit: I can't be bothered to spolier, the show has been out for a while now.

I hope its something clever like that and not another bugger up. I was giving them the benefit of doubt but if i am being honest it was pretty disappointing.
