Secret Invasion (Marvel TV Series)

Again, Aliens are trying to wipe out all of humanity - better call in the Aveng....................oh, still relying on one 70yo ex-spy to prevent it?

The stakes for this are just far too high to NOT include the Avengers, a problem with almost all "post-Avengers" stand-alone films. If the threat is so great that "every human dies" and the Avengers aren't being brought in, then what's the point in having them?

They’re all on holiday.

I thought it was ok. It wasnt too dry. For me I have curbed my expectations so i am not expecting earth shattering events at a cosmic level. The pacing is a little slow but hope it will pick up more.

I wasn't expecting the Skrulls to be using extremis to give more powers.

Not just Extremis - He appeared to have Groots power.

Which doesn't make sense.

Extremis, Groot, Frost Beast and Obsidian Cull were the 4 DNAs they had on the computer. She Hulk DNA would have made more sense imo(instead of Obsidian).

If you think about it "bits" of all of those characters have been chopped off or dropped in battle!

Been catching up on this, it's ok, definitely getting vibes from Falcon and the Winter Solider. Will depend how the next two episodes go. A lot of things not really connecting yet. Cast has been great but need Olivia Coleman's character to have more purpose than she does currently. Extremis callback was a nice surprise! 7/10 so far, may go up or down depending on how it concludes.

Who even are the Avengers now? I don't really have a clue.

Iron-man is dead
Black Widow is dead
Wanda is 'dead'
Vision is 'dead'
Rhodey is a public servant.
Thor is off the board
Nobody knows who Spider-man actually is, so they can't contact Peter

Hulk, Ant-man and Sam?

How can they be dead when all they to do is crank up Marvel's Marvellous Multiversational Macguffin Machine again?

Olivia Colman continues to shine in this. Literally the best thing in the show :D

Hulk likely isn't on Earth (he left during She Hulk, which takes place around the same time as Secret Invasion).

Scott Lang was retired (per Quantumania, which takes place after Secret Invasion).

The show does give an explanation for not forming a team with the few active heroes who remain on Earth. The Skrulls would simply frame them for some atrocity. Imagine, for example, a video of Sam Wilson assassinating President Ritson, or Wong murdering the Russian President. Such events would only lead to an escalation of conflict, especially with Skrulls in high office to encourage escalation.

There is another angle to this too. The Avengers has always (in the MCU, at least) been a loose alliance of individuals with their own priorities. Scott retired. Banner is off visiting his son. Thor and Captain Marvel are dealing with matters away from Earth. The list goes on. The result is that Earth has been left with insufficient protection. The events of Secret Invasion will likely lead to Thaddeus Ross's election to President and the formation of the Thunderbolts (a "professional" team of superheroes who won't wander off to other planets or decide they CBA to be a hero any more).

Is this worth persisting with then? I tend to enjoy marvel but I watched the first episode and just struggled to bother with more

Terrible

0/10

final fight was lolworthy, also so they just made the most powerful person ever in the MCU? why did he even leave who he thought was Fury in the machine? and then she just beat him easily anyway pretty much
also skrull rhodes they just let waffle on and then shot him anyway when they could have just shot him
and that tacked on ending where everyone is killing skrulls and sometimes not skrulls wtf
I liked the idea of the series but it was badly made, the action scenes were very low budget, cgi muzzle flashes etc,
the key scene at the end is four people stood outside a lift in a corridor ?!
main bad guy was rubbish as well

Loki and most of wandavision are still the only good mcu D+ things they have made so far

Last episode was far too short and series actually got worse as it went on IMO.

And Emelia Clarke has every avenger power ever? She would literally be the most powerful being in the universe.
This, sort of. Started well but the story wasn't that good in the end. There was no real surprises in the plot or secret skulls that weren't obvious from the 1st few episodes.

32 mins or so for a finale is also a bit of a joke. If any of this story ai referenced or continues in The Marvel's, then I might reconsider, but if not it was an average Marvel show.

I didn't like the guy who played Gravik, but fair play to him, he acted his heart out with the speech in the machine. When he grabbed Samuel J's face and screaming inhes away from him - great acting chops. But it's Nick Fury/Jules Winnfield!!

He should have launched into his "The path of the righteous man" and took him down :)
