Seeing SetiClassic off in style!

Sorry for the lateness but I was trying to find a decent guide on how to do this seti thing, I finally got it running but have a teensy question:if I need my computer for something can seti be stopped and restarted from where it left off?

If you set the client priority to Low, then SETI will back off when you start to use CPU cycles. It only crunches using spare cycles. :)

We were being somewhat optimistic from the start. You wouldn't expect Berkeley not to break something now, would you? :p

Aye. Even so, just been reading the SETI message boards. Many people are feeling used, like they've contributed to the project for years on end and now Berkeley have abandoned them.

Still, it'll make my BOINC stats look a little more healthy. :)

So are you giving up and going back to BOINC?

My gosh, you've no idea how mad I am at this situation. Unlike most of you, I don't seem to be getting credit for all my bounced WUs. I can't believe that the SETI guys could screw us over so hard. I just can't believe it! This is everything and more that made me QUIT SETI. If they want to do such a poor job at administration I can take my FLOPS elsewhere.

Terrible, just plain terrible. I take the time and energy to put more than 20 machines on SETI and as soon as I really get going strong they **** it up. Gha! I need to go cool off.

I was kinda restraining myself, but I agree with you Billy, although I only have 2 rigs. This is precisely why I've switched from BOINC to Folding. I put up with their ineptitude through the development of BOINC until I couldn't take it any longer. I tried BOINC the other week, and was pleasantly surprised that it seemed to have come along well. Now I come back to Classic for the final push, and we're screwed over again. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

(Billy, you're not the only one who isn't getting credit. Our team output is about half what it was before this issue, and so is SETI Germany's.)

I may change back to Folding later. I don't see any point crunching all these WUs if they're just stacking up, not doing any real science and not getting us any closer to No 1.

I was really enthusiastic about this at the start. But now, there just seems like no point.

So whats the concensus? Do we stick with classic, is it worth it, can we make a fight of it or not. Do we just cut our losses and revert back to BOINC or Folding or whatever? Maybe a poll??

Yeah. I guess there's only 8 days left. Still hoping that all these units will be post-credited. But it would surprise me if they were, Borkeley are probably more concerned with preparation for the mass transition to BOINC.

I'm staying, and I'm micromanaging results sending. If anyone has any desperate trouble sending results back, use my above queue details, but note I changed the port number to 8081. The port 8080 queue still works as well, but as part of the upload process, I have to shut down and restart the queue every 3 minutes. I'm getting there though.

At present my uploading is disabled because I was hoping to cache until they sorted the problem out. Would you suggest this is a bad idea and that I should just let seti queue have a go? My only concern with caching is if it is taking that long to upload, once I've got a few thousand cached it is going to take forever.

Hehe. Getting Wu's started working again direct from seti after I'd let the stash I got from you run down, so I took you off as a proxy to save you the trouble of having to deal with all mine too. I will have a go at enabling uploading now and see how it goes. Should I expect to see the WU's disappear from Seti Queue or are we getting the turning red and manual delete scenario?

I think they will go eventually, but it takes 3 attempts. I'm manual deleting to save time.
