Seemingly major problem at work...

pay a young girl in the school to say she slept with the guy who suspended you.....she can later retract her accusation.
see how he likes it

Typical of today's youth, tarnish a guys career because they thought it was fun and they don't get punished for doing it.

I would definitely take this further, the school have no right to force you into redundancy because you know other students, specially if they knew you know them prior to employment.

Forget about "your record" you've done nothing wrong, this is purely a legal matter and the school are taking the easy option.

why don't you approach a lawyer and actually see the legality's of this ? and see if you have a chance ?

and always keep us informed !

he's on 6 month probation

they can fire him for whatever reason they want. I agree with the OP, i think resigning with a clean record was the best bet.

this.

as frustrating as it is, all you can do at this stage is bend over and get shafted. he has like no options, and no employment rights, sucks

I can't believe you just gave up like that :/

This tbh. Why wouldn't you fight this? What are you going to say at your next interview when asked why you left your last job? Are they going to give you a good reference?

Honestly, I would be fuming if this happened to me. You are basically being accused of being a pedo! And you seem fairly indifferent to this????

I would have done the same, while on your 6 month probation you are at them employers mercy. However it doesn't stop you chucking a brick through some ones window.

From the employers point of view:
You have a young lad start what is probably his first job.
An accusation that he had been inappropriate with a girl at the school leads to an investigation
The investigation proves false but does highlight that he has a relationship with a student.
He's still on probation and you have a get out of jail free card to avoid the risk of problems in the future.
What do you do?

That he knows some students, which they were aware of before employing him. He is also a very similar age to said students

I meant relationship in the sense that he knows her outside work/school, rather than a sexual/romantic relationship.

Oh sorry, I missed that bit of the thread :o

To the original poster, if you're in a union then you need to contact them. I work in a school and your union can offer a lot of protection against what has happened to you.

Thanks for the advice, all.
I did hand in my resignation (making sure it stated that it was forced), just to avoid getting a mark on my record.
I have, however, taken the advice of a few of you, and contacted Grumbledook on Edugeek, who's reffering the details to the relevent people in the county council LA etc.

I shall let you know what's going on :)

of course they can

but they didnt

instead they decided to dirty his name by pretty much accusing him of things he did not do. surely thats not supposed to be allowed to happen ? (although maybe it is)

to be honest id rather resign than be sacked because they can on my probation period

One is a whole lot easier to explain to future employers as you can make up any reason why YOU decided to resign.

Having said that, before resigning id want a written reference to hand on to future employers.

No point in "not having a black mark on your record" if they then refuse to give you a reference. "Where have you been for 6 months" or "what did you do for them to refuse a reference" will be asked a lot when finding a new job.
