LOVE THIS GAME TO BITS

just installed the demo what can i say i love it looks like i will be picking this up this weekend:D

only prob there is no NVIDIA profile for SLI but hey i will liv with it such a good game tho:)

ok used the logitech profile to bind [ESC] and [ENTER] to the joypad...all sorted now back to gaming:D

sega rally and dirt are worlds apart...i guess codemasters got the name of their game right...thats abt it tho

have to say it feels great playing this....like my old console days...consoles always have been great for arcade type car games

Just been playing the demo.

Looks great and plays great just like the classic Sega Rally. Love the effects, add to the gameplay.

Hey, just got the demo of this game and can't figure it out. Are controls for Xbox pad or "az,." only? I use a ps2 controller and am wondering if I can set it up.
If I can set up my own controls I'll go out and buy it tomorrow.

Yes you can use a PS2 pad (I did for awhile), just set the controls how you want them on the Sega Rally Launcher and make sure you tap a key on the pad at the start of the game. It won't vibrate though, seems only the 360 pads are supported for force feedback at present. Oh and obviously you would need one of them PS2>USB converter things.

Yay! Brilliant, thanks! I'll go and buy the full game in an hour or two. The demo works nice and smooth at normal settings + 2x AA on my 7900GS, whereas Dirt ran slowly even with everything set to low :)

i installed the demo but i have no settings for controller, just audio and graphics and thats it.any ideas?

I've not tried the demo so not 100% sure on this.

With the full game if you go to the installation directory there is a exe called sega rally launcher and you use that to alter graphic options, controller etc - it's all done before you launch the game as the game it's self has no menu to set up controller's and graphic settings etc. Does the demo also have the sega rally launcher?

As for the guy that wants to know how to remap the default keyboard keys, I don't know how this is done but i'll look into it. Or if you can report back if you have managed to do it yourself, so other people will know.

demo does have the launcher exe. but it only has the settings like i stated above, there is no controller option.bit silly because how are u suppose to control it.dont think i will rush to buy it untill i can test my wheel on it and see how it handles.[saitek r440]

Bought it! My first impressions were "meh", as I was torn between buying this or TDU & Trackmania United. I think I should have gone for the second option.
After playing for a while though I find that it's good fun! You have to change your route around each track if on mud/dirt because the cars leave mini ditches which make driving bumpy, which is pretty cool. I have some graphical errors though, not sure whether this is down to the game or a dying graphics card. It runs decent enough on my 7900GS, and I haven't had the problem of "lag at the start of a race" like a few people with better systems.
This is the first game I've had for PC with a proper two-player multiplayer. (I don't own many games) Haven't yet tried online play, though.
Will post some screenies if anyone wants.

Did you manage to get your PS2 pad working ok?
Online is where this game shines, stick a time on the online leaderboards then race agaist the ghost of the next highest time, slowly creeping your way up the list.
Though to get anywhere near the top you need to be driving an unlocked car which needs you to progress though the offline mode of the game which is pretty freaking hard.
Also did you install the patch? a lot of fixes and it enables all the online stuff.

Also I don't think the default keyboard keys can be re-assigned, least I have not been able to find anything.

Got this today, and love it. Looks great, plays great, and runs amazingly :D

75 - 110 fps (fraps) @ 1680x1050, sm3, 4xmsaa, high graphical quality, and HD audio quality. Chuffed to nuts :D

Why did DiRT get it soooo wrong, 30 - 40 fps for me, and not as much fun.

Buy it!

Forgot, also the FF on my 360 controller works!

PS2 pad worked fine! Game is very hard though... Put the patch on as soon as I installed the game.
Not sure about the default keyboard keys, but I changed some of the settings to which buttons I wanted to use on my PS2 control.

Just had to post to say I love the game.

I love DiRT for being a hybrid between arcade and simulation.
I love Sega Rally Revo for being a pure arcade experience.

I'm getting a steady 60fps (VSync ON) at 1920x1200 2xMSAA Full High Detail.

Playing with the 360 wired controller. The track deformation is really neat as well. (one of the first games to display displacement mapping in this way!)

9/10

Its not displacement mapping.. The track deformation is a high dense mesh that actually deforms as ou drive over it.. Its 1 poly per 6 cm... so on a 20 meter wide track thats a lot of polygons :) But obviously it lowers in res asit goes into the distance.. I think there is an average 1.2 million polys on screen for the track alone on screen.. but 100x of million stored on the entire track

We have put a small "Technology" of sega rally video together.. think its on the main Sega Rally site.. or on 360 live market place.
