SETI@home News Vol. 114

I haven't had much joy running a GTS250 alongside a GTX260.
It looked like there was two gpu jobs running , but the job on the 250 just ran for hours and timed out.:(
I updated the drivers recently to allow the new lunatics ver so I might give it another go, maybe it will work better with cuda3 etc.

Some hardware good news at last. I chucked the 250 back in and it seems to work OK now. I even picked up enough WUs on Monday to keep them both fed for the duration.

Incidentally the WUS I got on Monday were the first I have needed to download for weeks, last time it went crazy and fetched thousands with long enough deadlines so I haven't had to worry about the outages for ages:cool:

Oh well, looks like one of my 470's has gone kaput - W7 is reporting problems with one of the cards, but doesn't say what  Im looking in the event logs, but there is no additional info, I have disabled the card for now, so at least Im crunching again, but on 2 cards for now.
Looks like another early start tomorrow so I can do some troubleshooting..

With the new server side estimates, you will find that work allocations can lurch from deluge to draught! If your DCF goes up, you'll get little work (it should be close to 1 - its in the app_info.xml, and on the application details section of your host on the S@H pages). If a task is grossly overestimated, causing the DCF to drop to close to zero, you get shed loads of work. Sometimes the servers have a mare and massively over/under estimate task lenghths!!!! All the more reason to let your rig get as much work as it can, when it can - providing you don;t let it time out!!!! ;)

Nope, apart from 'this shutdown was unexpected' :(

...bet you'll still beat me in the single PC league!!!!! ;) Me rigs going like crazy - not missed a beat since the replacement PSU went in but I've still got a shut-down and ramp-up on Friday as well......

Ah, that's all I got!!!!!! Mine then tried to report the problem to MS (ie, that it had shutdown and didn't know why)!!!!!!!!! "Sorry guv - just kinda forgot where I was. What happens to your power LED?

To tell the truth Im not sure - you talking about the one on the card? Its orange if I remember rightly - but I will check tomorrow..

No, I meant the power button LED........

When my PSU started plying up, it chopped off power - but there was still 'enough' juice flowing to keep the mainboard and power button LEDs lit.........

EDIT
Actually, the power button LED was flashing - the motherboard lights were steady.

Woo! :D

Long way to go to catch you guys :o

And I can't even crunch atm as i've finished all the WU's it downloaded and now the servers are down for maintenance :(

You'd think it'd send you a whole bunch the day before to keep you going.

No thats fine, nice steady blue light
it could be a mobo slot problem, but to be honest Id rather it was the card, as the mobo was an ebay job and I can't afford to replace that.
Other than move things around Im not that sure what else I can do, see what happens tomorrow I s'pose..
