Well, for all practical purposes, Tuesday day for them is Tuesday night for us. If they won't even power up the big stuff 'till the ac is sorted, that probably means Wednesday at best before they get a full handle on the damage. If they then need to replace disks, recover from backups, apply redo logs etc, we're into Thursday/Friday - so, I agree - Friday is the absolute best case scenario. I guess we just sit tight and await some news.

Looks like I may well get the steam engine powered up by the end of the week after all!

Have to agree with the thought that B0rkeley will be offline until Friday & don't expect much work until saturday once things have calmed down.
So my F@H output is boosted, & both Rosetta & Climate prediction or chugging away nicely.
 
I have 3 rigs that have huge queues of units for download, will be interesting to see what happens to those..
Im suspecting that there will be a whole new batch of ghost wu's floating around?

Grimgoth, I know your ranking was important to you, but what exactly did you do to the borkley servers :D Anything to hold off toxic :eek:

Air Conditioning Update (Tuesday): The air conditioning in our server closet failed on Saturday, causing several of our important systems to overheat. Most servers and services were shut down to prevent damage and remained down until the air conditioner was finally checked out Monday afternoon. We tested the system under full load this morning and it failed again, so full production is delayed at least another day. Sorry for the confusion/inconvenience.

Well, I suppose the crumb of comfort we can take from that is that it sounds like they shut most of the servers down instead of them committing suicide. That'd be a good sign. It also sounds like the weekly outage is off. The bad news, on the other hand, is that this could be expensive to fix. Worst case would be the unit is beyond repair.

When it went pop I was in the middle of downloading so I just left the unfinished downloads as pending. Good news is several hundred of them completed downloading during this evening so I'm cooking again :D
 
Checked this morning, but still wasn't getting anything so turned it off to save some pennies on leccy :(

Im going to keep an eye on this as Im gutted to have completely missed the boat on last nights downloads :(

Im currently crunching Einstein on my fermi's which is a criminal waste of gpu/cpu usage - 1 whole cpu per gpu task and 5% max gpu usage :eek:
