SETI@Home & OcUk Projects News Vol. 173 31st March - 6th April 2012

Hopefully, I should have my 4 x GTX680's up and running in side of a week - also I may have another boost to my ppd (will have to wait and see).

But all things being well - I should be able to make a decent attempt on top spot for ppd.......

Hi tbag, hope things are good with you. Hoping to start on the 680's soon as I think I got everything I need. Will let you know the outcome and the other little thing I have up my sleeve too :D

P.S. Just picked up a Samsung 51" 3d full HD Plasma for the living room PC.........

Morning Mr Loudbob sah, yes thanks i think things are finally beginning to settle down :)

:D Its true what they say about the quite ones :D
This "other little thing" you have up your sleave am taking that as a "give me 14 days and output will be 100,000 a day plus". I have a few things on the go which might allow me to start crunching again fingers crossed.
Is it a pair of 560ti's by any chance? ;)

Nothing quite so grand - but you're close :D

Just couldn't resist the price tag - £114 ish delivered - so I got two.....

And thats the only clue you're getting :cool:

Should net an extra 20k ppd - more if I'm lucky ;)
 
:eek::D That was a nice price you got there sah well done.

At the minute i have my i7 930 and r3 with 2 x watercooled gtx 480 setup and quite stable.
Am waiting on an ek universal backplate before i build the following
i7 930
12gb dominator ram
2 x gtx 580
asus mobo

I have the waterblocks for the 580's but funds have dictated that i could only afford the pump and res for the cpu loop, hopefully i can get the 580's watercooled and running next week for now (or rather tommorrow) they will have to remain on air.

There again i could slap it all in one rig with 2 x psu's and sell off the bits hmmmm decisions :rolleyes::)
 
Well, got the cards installed :D

Looks like they're good for just under 15k each @ FAH :D

No room for overclock - if I increase the voltage the temps sky rocket. :(

But can't complain for £114 ish each ;)

Will swap them over to SETI soon - just checking stability in FAH at stcok settings.

Ok, i'll hang fire till midnight.....

But it'll take a bit for the points to kick and and i'll also be dismantling my main rig soon to put the wc'd 680's in :)

Please can I be added to the Single PC League. I'm now just running the rig in the sig for Seti and Milkyway. It is GPU assisted.

edit: never mind, turns out a crappy old pc at my mum's is still running a client under my username lol.... it hardly does 1 work unit a week but technically i'm disqualified from the Single PC league until i can get over there and turn the client off hehe. Sorry for the mix up. :)

Just to let everyone know that my production will sink to zero over the next week or two. It's been a bit low recently anyway, due to BOINC not knowing how to schedule properly, but that's another matter. However the more important issue is that I lose my job (after eighteen years) on 4th May. Obviously I'm applying for new ones, but as an old man with very specialist skills, it may take a while (and hopefully no longer) to get another. If I get a job which supports my current leckie bills then I'll be back at some point, but while I'm unemployed at least, I need to reduce outgoings. And a leckie bill which is at least 30% down purely to SETI is an obvious candidate. I'll probably leave LHC2 going on the one machine for a bit, as that never seems to use more than two cores these days, but even that may go. But certainly no SETI for a while.
