Hey Derv.....

Pretty sure that my current set-up would be able to take top spot on averages and thats without two of the 680's...... :)

But......

You're in luck (for a day or so at least) - I'm looking to start the 4 x 680 water cool project and even though I'm pretty sure I have everything I need......it's virtually certian that I will have forgotten something.......

Anyways, be warned - I'm on the move :D

Hey,

Please can I be added to the Single PC League. I'm now just running the rig in the sig for Seti and Milkyway. It is GPU assisted.

Thanks.

edit: never mind, turns out a crappy old pc at my mum's is still running a client under my username lol.... it hardly does 1 work unit a week but technically i'm disqualified from the Single PC league until i can get over there and turn the client off hehe. Sorry for the mix up. :)

We are hardly sticklers for rules in these parts, it'll be a pleasure to add you to the single pc users league when the news gets done :)

Just to let everyone know that my production will sink to zero over the next week or two. It's been a bit low recently anyway, due to BOINC not knowing how to schedule properly, but that's another matter. However the more important issue is that I lose my job (after eighteen years) on 4th May. Obviously I'm applying for new ones, but as an old man with very specialist skills, it may take a while (and hopefully no longer) to get another. If I get a job which supports my current leckie bills then I'll be back at some point, but while I'm unemployed at least, I need to reduce outgoings. And a leckie bill which is at least 30% down purely to SETI is an obvious candidate. I'll probably leave LHC2 going on the one machine for a bit, as that never seems to use more than two cores these days, but even that may go. But certainly no SETI for a while.

That cant be easy Mr Meridian sah i wish you all the best in looking for a new post and hope you dont dissapear alltogether :)

Sounds like your ready to take the output crown with your watercooled build are you doing it this weekend sah?

If so i may be able to folow you with the increase in output, got this little lot to start today and while its not a MegaLoudbobsuperdoodah rig it should put me back in the running.:)

The red ek memory blocks for the r3 just incase you were about to balk at the colour scheme :D

...... oh darnit  just when i thought i had gpu's sorted and wanted to do it today .... seems like another 580 is inbound in next few days meh will get cracking with what i have and add it later :D

Completely dissmantled a rather dusty haf x cleaned every fan blade putting it together with a triple in the roof and an external quad hurraaaahhh

Well i figured today was as good a day as any to get cracking and back into my stride, i think its a bit more important to get this rig up and running before i do the news as its output we need with the imminent departure of Mr Meridian :(

A few questions if anyone is around and has an idea :)

Am using a hafx case and there will be 2 x 200mm fans extracting air at the top, will i get away with using a double rad for the cpu loop and will the 2 x 200mm fans be enough to draw sufficient air over the rad on the way out or should i put 2 x 120mm fans on the rad in pull as well?

Thanks in advance :)

Rotary fans are generally NOT good at "pulling" air, even with a positive pressure in front of them: compare the air pull in front of a propeller and that blown behind it. I would always advocate pushing air through a rad, not pulling it. I have mine set to blow air into the case for instance, so that they are pushing room air directly at the rad. Even if you are pushing air from inside the case over the rad and out, I'd still blow, not suck.

I see what you mean just :) I would have turned the 2 x 200mm fans to incoming to blow air over the rad but there is allready a side 200mm and front 200mm intake with only 1 x 120 on exhaust at the back which did not sound right as in too much air coming into the case.

So will it work ok with the 2 x 200mm at top on exhaust and 2 x 120 argggghhhhh am gonna have a tea break i am plain confused now but thank you for your input Mr Meridian sah :)

Hey guys... do you have any idea how I get boinc to download more seti units for the rig in my sig? I have it set to download enough for the maximum 10 days and 100% of the processors but it always seems to crunch through them in no time and then sit idle during the weekly outage. :(

I know how you feel M, I thought I was going to be made redundant in February, its been touch and go
since then but now it appears I'm safe till the end of December as my employer cannot break free from a lease agreement.
So my Einstein output is safe till then but as you said it will have to end then.
I'm sure I will be able to carry on crunching something, probably one or possibly two low power Radeons on Milkyway.
Ever since I got the news I have been stocking up with hardware to see me through.
I can't match your 18 years, only 10 for me, but its not nice being in that position.

Best of luck to you on finding another position mate.
