West Mercia or Malvern (not sure which or if they are linked) are sorting my renewal at the moment - been on a temporary for a couple of months, it's for the best though as I was eyeing up a Caesar Guerini Summit and a Benelli M2 at West Mids Shooting Ground over Christmas!

Shot a friends .410 single barrel hammer gun on Boxing Day; only 10 shots shooting I think 9g cartridges but it's probably the most fun I've had shooting clays.

Did you shoot the 120 birder just before xmas -

I sent my renewal off last July - two months before it was due - rang up last week and it's still way down the list.

Hoping to go shooting with my neighbour this weekend (Clay shoot), it's my first time that I'll have ever gone shooting but he's been doing it for years. Hopefully I'll enjoy it and be able to pick it up as a proper hobby as they go every week.

Any tips for a novice so I'm not completely out of my depth on the day? I'll end up borrowing one of his guns, be good to go with as much knowledge as possible even though I'll have help on the day :)

Before worrying about hitting clays learn about being safe and the etiquette required :) oh I love his name :p

Oh and genuinely I was looking for the worst video

does the gun cabinet have to be inside the house? can it be in a garage?

From experience:

If the garage is integral to the house maybe depending on if it is alarmed and how your firearms officer feels about it.

If it is a separate building - almost 0% chance. I know of the odd super rare exception to this.

No, we were there on Tuesday the 20th and did 100 escorted Sporting and 25 Skeet before heading home. Tried to get over to Mid Wales or Fauxdegla last week but the weather didn't play ball so made do with a 60 birder at Kinver.

@DodgeeRascal been pondering getting a .410 to go squirelling. That, or a hushpower of some sort. Might try one out after the season.

I've never shot any game or vermin but the owner said it belonged to his grandparents and they used it to shoot rabbits from the window :). I loved shooting it even though it was a hammer and in quite bad shape - gave it a bit of character and so light and basically zero recoil!

Kinver.. - Now there is a name from the past - used to go most weeks till there was a row between Terry and others who ran it. It's to far to go now as I moved from Telford to near Hodnet. :)

Ahh didn't know that! Think it's just Terry there now. It's a good Sunday shoot but yeah not good enough to warrant a drive that far! :)

Was looking at how feasible a 410 would be for clays. I found the video above. Looks fairly dodgy, awful trap, and post-shoot chicken LOL

I'd like to precursor this statement by saying I know nothing about shooting. Regarding that video. Aren't there rules that say you shouldn't walk down range of people shooting?
