Should I get a iPhone

Yeah the application can send but not receive MMS, there is also another one that allows multiple SMS messaging to people.

Its the main thing that annoyed me when I had the phone, not the fact I couldn't do the above things, but that I had paid £250 for a phone that couldn't even do the basics and needed me to rely on some 3rd party developer to create an application for the phone which it should have had from day 1

I can safely say that the 3G model won't be out until "later on in 2008", my guess is August/September, but it might be worth holding on until Feb if you're wanting a 16GB version.

Also, instead of getting the £45 tariff, you could jailbreak it and use a better 02 tariff, although you are hindered when it comes to upgrading the firmware somewhat.

I love my iPhone.. I wouldn't change it for another mobile now that it's got all my email and a selection of videos :)

Thanks Guys..

Look like it come to own choice but look as it be a hard for me to decided since I do send and recieve MMS.

Oh god why things so hard to decided

I do agree that the iPhone doesnt live up to its hype. I've had one so I know about all its "amazing functions" and its "revolutionary technology".....

That's because, for the US market, it was a pretty revolutionary phone in terms of usability. Sure, you had Blackberrys... but for 'man on the street', the iPhone was a rather big leap.

The thing is, in the UK (and Euro) market, we are accustomed to other things as well, so for many people it was not as enticing.
For the Japan and Korea market, it's a complete no-no not to be 3G.
So given that Apple is meant to be in talks at the moment with DoCoMo (a mobile operator in Japan), it would add more fuel to the rumour that a 3G iPhone is on the way sooner rather than later.

Lack of MMS out of the box (until this rumoured 1.1.3 update) is pretty poor for the Euro market though. That said, I never use it myself... but I understand you young whippersnappers like to take pics and send them around :p ;) :D

heh, it's not even like I use MMS that much. I've probably received about 1 a month on average in the past year and sent about the same, its just the fact that it isn't there in case I do want to use it. Pretty basic functionality!
I might still buy one though as I have seen a few applications out there which solve the problem, after a few months of the phone being in circulation.
When I first got one when it wasn't even out over here it was annoying that there were things lacking and it is annoying that you have to go and find the application yourself for basic functions, but I did like the screen and interface better than my blackberry. Only real thing that does irritate me, and cant be changed as far as I know is that emails aren't pushed through to the handset, but the mail.app is just refreshed every 5mintues minimum?

If they release a 16GB version and someone alters the mail.app then I will most likely get one as the Blackberry needs fixing anyway!

Everyones always got something bad to say about the iphone. I dont know what it is. I am paying £45 a month for mine and I can honestly say its a joy in my life and worth every penny. Yes it lacks features but if I am honest, its made up by the rest of the phones ability.

If I am right where about on the net you can download apps for it? Or is it not allowed to be said on here?

Also am i right in thinking that when apple release a new firmware it can add many other feature maybe MMS?

You can only download apps if you jailbreak it and when you do that you get an app called 'installer' which has all the apps you could ever want in.

Exactly how i feel, its a lovely piece of kit.

I have had a good mess around with my Girlfriends viewty and using the touch screen is horrible. Camera is nice though :)

Another thing i like to know is if I Unlock the iphone can i still take advantage of the Cloud Wireless Hotspot? Or is that only part of the iPhone Tariff?

iPhone-tariff's only.

As is the unlimited Edge data.

I have been thinking of taking on the £45 tariff instead of jail break as i would like to take advantage of unlimited data access. But am i right in thinking that i cant install 3rd party software this way?

A mate has the iphone. it is very cool and fun to play with, but is deffo not worth the money, especially considering how ad the contract is texts and mins wise.
Also he wont answer his phone in skanky places (anywhere in hanley) as he doesnt want to get pickpocketed/mugged. Rediculus really

You can still jailbreak it when it's on the iPhone contract, that's the only way to install 3rd party apps at the moment.

Yes, but do the jailbreak BEFORE you configure the phone in iTunes.

I tried jailbreaking my iPhone afterwards and it won't load the jailbreakme.com link, despite being connected to my WiFi. It's strange.

no they dont lol. maybe an app will be released to allow it in some for or another?

MMS could actually take off with the iPhone.. I'd use it if it came under the zero cost for data transfer.

MMS is expensive on the network side and so subscribers get hammered when they pass the cost on..

Went into Apple store today and still came home empty handed LOL.

I just cant seem to tempt myself to buy one even though I was nearly tempted to get myself another MBP and give my current one to my other half.

What is it on the iPhone that make people love them? On my current phone I mostly Text and that about it.

What on the iPhone would please me??? that what i need to know so I can be tempted ha ha... Is there somthing I am missing

3rd party piece of software called sketches ;)

Basically screwl and then shake like an etch'n'sketch to clear it. It has made many girls go "OMG" and shriek with excitement. In short, it helps you pull women :p
