Just go to r/all. Since yesterday I would say at least 25% of all posts have been subreddits declaring that they will no longer allow twitter links after consulting their users.

The reaction to the same question has been very different on Overclockers versus Reddit.
The same Reddit were most of the popular subreddit are moderated by the same 50 or so people? You honestly think that is an organic action?

As for consulting the users, Reddit is a hive mind and a very stupid one at that. Remember when they “caught” the Boston marathon bomber? Them making a collective decision doesn’t mean it’s a smart or well thought out decision. Rather than pointing at what they are doing make your arguments and stand by them.

Be gone censorious hogs. Wallow in your lack of ability to tolerate alternative opinion elsewhere.

That is untrue. r/Scotland, r/Scottish football, r/northern Ireland, r/Liverpool, r/liverpoolfc, r/reddevils and many more have or have signaled they probably will ban twitter.

This is a worldwide thing and Overclockers seems to be a bit of an outlier as most subreddits seem to be strongly for a ban.

"Reddit did a thing so now you must do a thing"

Get in the sea

Okay ? But you’re comparing this forum to a subreddit. They’re not the same.
Maybe we should put the poll on each subforum and let them each decide whether to ban X or not in that subforum.

/s

(I am genuinely curious if members that predominantly browse the Apple subforum would vote the same way as GD for example)

So don't click on it then, problem solved. Dunno why you're trying to make your problem other peoples' problems too.
Problem is with embeds that you don't get that choice. You are contributing to X by just viewing OCUK and having the X content injected automatically.

I'd be fine with just removing the embeds. People can link to X if they like, then I can choose to click it.

YouTube embeds I can live with as you don't actually see the content until you hit play so you still have that choice.

I don't think it/they need to be banned entirely but I personally would prefer if any media embeds (X, insta, youtube, etc.) had to be accompanied by some actual content or commentary by the person posting it (obviously a few specific threads like YouTube vids thread excepted where that wouldn't really make sense).
Most people can’t even do that properly on SC we’re they are supposed to.
And Tbf often there isn’t a lot to add sometimes

Btw for people who don’t know. There are add ons that block x embeds. I’m not sure which of my Firefox addons is doing it and I never bothered to change it but there’s an option for you all.

I have no idea what your point is. Mods censoring/changing thread's intent by editing bad? Yes that bad. So what.
At least you see it for what it is then. Seems the mods IRC channel has decided to double-down and make out Feek thought it was a typo

I'd be more interested to see which other forums are considering banning it. This is not reddit.
