Should prohibition end?

The so called war on drugs has been a complete failure. At least if it was legalised it could be regulated and controlled and would remove the silver platter which prohibition has given to the criminal fraternity. Profits could be redirected into education and treatment programmes for those with serious addictions.

The big problem with drugs is that people want to take them, thats why prohibition has, and will continue to fail.

I know most cities have major drug problems, but I still see more carnage caused by alcohol abuse.

It should be legalised.

It can be argued we are doing more damage than good with this war on drugs.
So true.

I used to know a pretty successful harmless and innocent guy who used to smoke tonnes of weed. He got caught one time too many and now his life's a mess, not because of his drug habbit, but by the terribly flawed laws and the damn Police enforcing them.

Yes, it's a completely pointless and counterproductive position, as well as very hypocritical when other recreational pastimes with worse KSI rates are routinely ignored and completely unregulated...

I have a genuine question for the OP; why do you ingest such a compound?

The compound in question, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has been used for 10,000's of years to counter pain and recreationally. Way before any government telling us what we can and cannot do came along.

It's the only high I find appealing, It has no toxic properties. (unliek alcohol, With weed you have no 'hangover' as theres no toxics present) Can be grown Organically and is the only drug that is a gift from mother nature.. All your other 'drugs' need mixing in a lab or whatever (bar mushrooms) where as Cannabis simply grows, Flower's and is ready.. You dont get anything more natural than that, Granted inhaling smoke isnt natural but Cannabis can be used to cook with, Used in ointments (highly effective) and tinctures etc.

I meant on what we call illegal drugs....

Holland taxes Cannabis as does the USA (The US has made 10's of millions already in tax revenue), It's legal there in about 18 states and more gaining legal status's as the months pass (for medicinal use)

id guess he enjoys it , the same reason people drink or smoke or do dangerous sports , or speed , or etc etc
I understand the concept, I'm just curious as to why the OP chooses this specific activity when there are many others available.

Absolutely not. If anything the laws should be harsher, people don't seem too worried about using drugs.
Erm, maybe because there's actually nothing to worry about (cannabis)? ;)

If it doesn't suit you, don't do it, simple really :)

Hit the nail on the head there mate.

You're right. It's just illegal for the lulz.

It was made illegal in the 70's when barely any testing had been done on it, In a different type of era. Times change and these days people tend to believe science more than propaganda (id like to think so) and theres endless scientific reports stating cannabis is much less harmful than tobacco and alcohol but these kind of reports dont keep daily mail readers happy. so its all lose lose really.

Come's to mind.

Can huff and puff all you like, but if people want their drugs, they'll get them.

You may as well legalize, control and tax instead of needlessly criminalizing thousands of young people every year because Murdoch's crappy rag tops keep bleating 'the children!? the children?!' day in day out.

Doesn't affect me, I'm not retarded and have always successfully avoided the long arm of the law, as has literally tens of millions of others. The drugs legislation is thusly useless if it can't be enforced in a practical manner.
