Made myself Shish Tawook (Taouk) on the BBQ. Had it many times in Egypt but never made it myself. Served in homemade pita breads (also cooked on the BBQ) and some Hummus I made a couple of nights ago.

Everything turned out just smashing (even if I do say so myself) - very happy with the results.

What better way to relax after a delicious repast than lounging in the back yard with a glass of fizzy stuff and a cherry flavoured shisha?

I used this recipe. I looked at several recipes on the web and this one looked as if it contained what I tasted in Egypt. Turned out pretty close. I might up the quantity of allspice just a shade next time - couldn't really taste it. Very simple recipe recipe but very tasty.

Was at my Dad's over the weekend and we caught some lovely mackerel off the local pier.
We decided to smoke them and ohhh man.. they were outstanding!

We used Apple wood to start the smouldering, and then oak chippings for the final smoke. If it got too hot, we sprayed it with a apple juice. You should definitely try it if you have the time and resources.

They look absolutely amazing. I'd love to have a go at this!
