Mrs RS has been playing in the kitchen today for her friends birthday, so above are meringues. She's currently doing some truffles, the raspberry marshmallows are cooling and she also knocked me up a cake to take on holiday.

Oh, she also did a cake for the eldest's school, covered in ganache and a bakewell tart!

She's had a busy baking day...

Have been trying out a few new things the last couple of days.

Moroccan Kefta Tagine, which is basically lamb meatballs in a spicy tomato and honey sauce with runny eggs on top.

My own home-made Italian bread.

Panzanella, an Italian dressed bread salad.

Calzone. Rolled pizza dough with salami, pepperoni, mushroom, garlic, capers, pesto, mozzarella and basil. Makes quite a nice change from fairly greasy pasties.

Interesting shaped meringues, left set are lime the others are just plain, also made a ganache for them. Never actually eaten a meringue but turns out I don't really like them much, never mind had to do something with the egg whites though.

Have you had pavlova? So much nicer than meringues with the texture change.
All I find meringues good for is the usual smash up and much into a hole ton of whipped cream.

Nah I haven't though I'm not sure I'd be a fan of that either. I've only just realised why I don't like roulades as well or at least the ones that I've had and I think it's because they've been meringue based. I actually felt sick after eating the 3rd one.

They definitely won't be on my come dine with me menu! :D
